My boyfriend and I went out for meat near Daewangam Park 💙 Today's spot was Taewangam Deungdae Galbi Main Branch.

Turns out my boyfriend had actually been here before, haha. He said he'd come a few times for work dinners. I was curious why he'd keep coming back even after multiple company dinners here. Once I tried it myself — from the side dishes to the meat — it was pretty satisfying.

More importantly, my boyfriend really had come here before for work dinners, haha, so I trusted the place going in. The main hall was already full, so we went to the annex 😂 It was around 2pm and still packed — a proven local favorite, I guess, haha.

As soon as we sat down at Taewangam Deungdae Galbi Main Branch, I was surprised by the variety of basic side dishes. Jjolmyeon (chewy spicy noodles), bean sprouts, pickled radish, shredded scallion — all kinds came out. A salad came along too. The table was full like in the photos, so my hands were busy even before the meat arrived, haha.

The pork ribs at Taewangam Deungdae Galbi Main Branch are lightly sweet marinated ribs grilled over charcoal. The moment they hit the grill, a great smell rose up. The seasoning wasn't too strong, so it was easy to eat without feeling overwhelmed. Sweet pork ribs plus that charcoal aroma — it made me crave rice right away, haha.

The nicely browned parts were especially delicious. If you're hunting for good pork ribs, this place is worth remembering.

Service: the staff at the annex are genuinely kind

And I can't leave out how kind the staff were 💙 The auntie (ajumma, a warm term for a middle-aged woman) who took care of us was really friendly and kind.

She showed us step by step how to grill the meat. If you grill pork ribs wrong, the seasoning can burn easily. She kindly told us exactly when to flip them. The taste mattered, but this kind of thoughtfulness is what stuck with me the most.

Here's the combo I recommend. Pick up some bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) with your chopsticks. Then place a nicely grilled piece of pork rib on top.

Eating it this way was such a great combination, haha. The tangy-spicy jjolmyeon cuts through the sweetness of the ribs. It's also good with the pickled radish. Or add some shredded scallion. With so many basic side dishes, you can keep eating it a different way each time.

After the meat, of course we needed rice. We also had doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). The tofu and zucchini pieces were big, and there was even crab in it.

A big spoonful of rice with the stew was perfect. It really cut through the greasiness after eating meat.

We also ordered the bibim naengmyeon. Just seeing that red seasoning perked up my appetite. Don't just eat the noodles plain — make sure to put a piece of rib on top, haha. The spicy-tangy noodles go so well with the sweet ribs. We said we were full and kept eating it anyway.

We walked out completely full, but the sikhye (sweet rice punch) we had at the end was surprisingly amazing, hahaha. Sweet and cold, perfect as a palate cleanser! Maybe it tasted even better after all that meat. I made sure to finish every last drop of that sikhye before leaving.
