Gijang tteokgalbi restaurant with old-school snack dessert bar: Dongam
In short
Dongam Tteokgalbi is a Korean set-meal restaurant on the 3rd floor of a building at 160 Gijanghaean-ro in Gijang, Busan, with an all-you-can-eat self-bar of Korean side dishes. After a weekend look around Lotte Outlet Gijang with her mom, the writer ordered the cheese tteokgalbi set for 18,000 won and the Dongam tteokgalbi set for 15,000 won, served with pot rice and blue crab doenjang stew, while the self-bar ran from namul (seasoned greens) to tteokbokki, steamed egg, jajang sauce and old-school snacks for dessert. For a filling lunch with easy parking near Haedong Yonggungsa Temple and Osiria, Dongam Tteokgalbi fits.

I went on a weekend outing to Gijang with my mom. After a loop around Lotte Outlet Gijang, we were trying to figure out what to eat and ended up at Dongam Tteokgalbi (동암떡갈비), which I'd recommend as a Gijang restaurant with all-you-can-eat Korean side dishes near Haedong Yonggungsa.
Where is Dongam Tteokgalbi, and when is it open?
Dongam Tteokgalbi is on the 3rd floor of a building at 160 Gijanghaean-ro, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea. Hours are 11:00-21:00 with break time from 15:00-16:30, and parking is available.
Where to park: the private lot on the 1st floor
There's a dedicated parking lot on the 1st floor of the Dongam Tteokgalbi building, with staff on hand, so parking was easy. It was a really hot day, and having the elevator go straight up to the 3rd floor made it even more convenient.
It's right in the heart of East Busan's main tourist spots — Lotte Outlet Dongbusan, Osiria, and Haedong Yonggungsa — so it's a great stop on a weekend outing or travel itinerary.
Inside Dongam Tteokgalbi: mood and seating
With bright floor-to-ceiling windows letting in plenty of light, the space feels warm and open, and the large tables with comfortable seating make it a great fit for families. The wide spacing between tables meant we could eat in a relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere.

- Cream cheongyang tteokgalbi set ₩18,000

It's one menu item per person for elementary-school age and up, and there's a separate kids' menu for children under 10, so keep that in mind.
The self-bar: unlimited Korean side dishes and old-school snacks

I'd recommend Dongam Tteokgalbi for a Gijang lunch mainly because of the all-you-can-eat Korean side dish self-bar — that's probably its biggest draw.

You can try all kinds of neat, well-prepared side dishes, including a variety of namul (seasoned vegetable dishes).

There's also a deep, rich miyeokguk (seaweed soup) available.
Steaming hot sundubu (soft tofu) pairs nicely with kimchi.

Tteokbokki, stir-fried sausage, steamed egg, fried rice, jajang, seaweed, and more — beyond the main tteokgalbi, there's a wide range of sides to go with it, which makes it perfect for visiting with kids too.

There were also old-school snacks for dessert, so I could finish the meal with something sweet.
What we ordered: cheese tteokgalbi set and Dongam tteokgalbi set

- Cheese tteokgalbi set ₩18,000
- Dongam tteokgalbi set ₩15,000
We ordered these two.

First, the basic table setting of side dishes came out looking neat and tidy.
A hot pot rice also came along with it. You could tell care went into every single bit of the rice and side dishes.

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) came loaded with big chunks of crab and tofu, and had a deep, savory broth.

A full table of Dongam Tteokgalbi's set meal! The neat spread had our jaws dropping.

Every tteokgalbi at Dongam Tteokgalbi is made with 100% beef, aged for at least a day in a special soy-based marinade, then carefully grilled over charcoal before being served.

The tteokgalbi wasn't overpowering at all — mild and clean, it practically melted the moment it hit my mouth.
The cheese tteokgalbi, piled high with cheese, uses cheddar and string cheese together, so the richness of the cheese and the savory tteokgalbi come together really well.
It was tender, moist, and full of juice — I think it would satisfy everyone, whether you're bringing your parents or your kids.

Mixing all kinds of namul into a bowl with the pot rice to make bibimbap turned out to be a real treat, one of the best parts of the meal.
Is Dongam Tteokgalbi worth a Gijang lunch stop?

Beyond the tteokgalbi, you can eat side dishes, soup, and all sorts of food generously and filling — I think it's a solid value-for-money option for a meal out. If you're near Lotte Outlet or Haedong Yonggungsa looking for a spacious, comfortable restaurant with easy parking, I'd recommend giving Dongam Tteokgalbi a try for lunch in Gijang!
