Everyone, do you remember the catchphrase "Care for a bowl of ttukbaegi?" That feeling of a hot earthenware pot (ttukbaegi) keeping you full and happy all day is something every Korean can relate to. Today I'm introducing a seafood ttukbaegi spot that both I, Nolbu Agassi, and my parents couldn't stop praising. It's a Korean restaurant in Seongseo, Daegu that's perfect for taking your parents. Shall we take a look together?
What are the opening hours and parking like at Sin Yeongung Seongseo Moda Outlet branch?
Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch is at 27 Seongseogongdan-ro 15-gil, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, on the 1st floor. It's open 10:00–22:00 with a break from 15:30 to 17:00, and last orders are at 14:50 and 21:20. You can park free in both Moda Outlet public lots, 1 and 2.
Parking is the thing we worry about most when eating out, right? Since you can use the Moda Outlet parking lots for free, parking was really easy. Being able to visit without any parking stress was a big plus.

The exterior has a clean, large sign that stands out from far away and inspires trust. There's also a dedicated parking area right in front of the restaurant for about 5 cars, so with a bit of luck you can park right at the door.

Is there seating that works for bringing parents?
The restaurant has a spacious wood-toned hall with private rooms, group seating and even a window bar table for solo diners. The big hall is the first thing you see when you walk in, and the tables are nicely spaced, so it felt comfortable throughout the meal.

With private rooms and group seating, there's plenty of roomy seating, good enough for family meals, group gatherings or company dinners.

By the window there's also a bar table for people dining alone. Fitting for a trendy new Daegu spot, the layout felt stylish. You can enjoy a hearty bowl of seafood ttukbaegi on your own without feeling awkward, and you can feel the thoughtfulness in that.

What did we order for lunch?
This day, we ordered the seafood ttukbaegi and the seafood pancake (haemul pajeon).
Seafood ttukbaegi / Seafood pancake
Four side dishes: substance over showiness
The basic side dishes are four neat ones that go well with seafood ttukbaegi. Honestly, when the table was first set, it didn't feel like a super lavish number of side dishes. But the moment I tasted them one by one, I understood right away why this place is popular. The lineup is no-frills, yet the depth of flavor was no ordinary thing.

A fresh European salad! Really fresh vegetables, and the sauce is the best~

What seafood goes into the seafood ttukbaegi?
The seafood ttukbaegi had scallops, crab, mussels and shrimp, and even abalone. It's the whole sea in one pot, so the look alone is special, with fresh seafood piled so high it seems about to spill out of the pot.

With abalone in there too, it was nothing less than a health-boosting dish.

The clear, refreshing broth is superb. You can taste the deep natural flavor of the seafood, and my parents, who like clean flavors, really loved it.

What surprised me most was that it wasn't just seafood, there was also springy fish cake~

A seafood ttukbaegi meal where even the rice is different
The bowl of rice served alongside was glossy and sticky. Everyone, what do you think is the foundation of Korean food? I'd dare to say it's rice. No matter how good the main dish is, if the rice is dry it feels 2% lacking, right? But at Sin Yeongung near Seongseo Moda Outlet, the rice is different from the start!

See the glossy, sticky rice in the photo? Each grain looks freshly cooked and alive... Even when I picked up just a little with chopsticks, I could feel the stickiness.

What does the seafood chive pancake taste like?
The seafood chive pancake (haemul buchu-jeon) uses minimal flour batter and is loaded with squid and shrimp, crispy outside and moist inside. It looks overwhelming from the first glance!

It's pan-fried with plenty of fresh squid and plump shrimp, crisp like a cracker outside and juicy with seafood inside, a textbook example of crispy-outside, moist-inside. The texture of the seafood in every bite was so good that I couldn't put my chopsticks down.

Can you have coffee after the meal?
There's a self-serve coffee corner on one side of the restaurant. Finishing the meal with a cup of fragrant coffee was nice. Little details like this seem to make the meal even more satisfying.

Verdict: a hearty Korean lunch near Moda Outlet, Daegu
A generous ttukbaegi with not just seafood but fish cake and dumplings, paired with a crispy pancake! If you're looking for a filling, healthy meal near Moda Outlet in Daegu, don't hesitate and head to Sin Yeongung Seongseo Moda Outlet branch. I recommend it a thousand times over!
