Gwangmyeong Korean restaurant for mild jjukumi: Jeongipum

In short

Jeongipum Jjukkumi Gwangmyeong 1st Branch is a Korean restaurant near Gwangmyeong Station in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi. I enjoyed mild iron-plate jjukumi with chestnut-fed black pork belly, minari wraps, and fried rice with my parents. Verdict: a comfortable choice for a family meal, even for people who do not handle spicy food well.

Jeongipum Jjukkumi also has a lunch special. It runs from opening until 15:00 on weekdays, so keep that in mind! And since there is no break time on weekends, it seems like a great stop on a weekend outing around Gwangmyeong Station!!

Interior of Jeongipum Jjukkumi

Weekend dinner wait and atmosphere

This is what the interior layout feels like. Maybe because it has a reputation as a good restaurant, it was completely full on weekend dinner!! There was even a wait, but they have waiting seats, and it felt like tables opened up pretty quickly!

Table setting!!! Shredded radish, bean sprouts, flying-fish roe, sauces, salad, wrap vegetables—everything needed for eating jjukumi (webfoot octopus) was all set!!!

The signature menu is, of course, iron-plate jjukumi. You can order jjukumi on its own, or choose a generously filled set with beef brisket or black pork flower-cut pork belly plus add-ins, at around ₩18,500 per person. I ordered the black pork flower-cut pork belly set (iron-plate jjukumi + chestnut-fed black pork flower-cut pork belly + cabbage + minari + rice cakes), and the spicy, chewy jjukumi went surprisingly well with the rich pork belly. Since the spice level can be adjusted, even I, who cannot handle spicy food well, could enjoy it without any pressure.

Can you see that mound of minari (water dropwort) over the jjukumi and pork belly!!!!

By the way, do not forget to get your 2 hours of free parking applied when you pay! We finished eating in under an hour, so I even had time to look around AK Plaza for a bit—so nice haha.

We went with my parents, so this was three portions in total, and there was more pork belly than I expected too!!

Once it starts bubbling as it cooks, the staff handle it themselves, so there is nothing for us to do!

Minari can be more expensive than you would think when buying it yourself, so I loved that they piled it on generously. Its fragrance went so well with the jjukumi too!

How I ate the flying-fish roe wraps

They bring out flying-fish roe!! The eating method was explained, so I tried it exactly like this. Put green laver seaweed on the back of a perilla leaf, then layer on lemon shredded radish, bean sprouts, and flying-fish roe in that order~ Dip the jjukumi in the white sauce~~ then make it into a wrap—amazing!!!!!!!!!

The jjukumi was so plump and large that I almost wondered, is this octopus? It was wonderfully substantial!!

It was seriously delicious wrapped up like that. And ordering the mild level was just right for me! If you have it with the white cream, flying-fish roe, and a wrap, the heat is softened even more, so people who cannot eat spicy food do not need to worry here!!!

Complimentary steamed egg

They also give you steamed egg as a complimentary side. I looove the fluffy, soft steamed egg~~~

Jeongipum Jjukkumi has even recently expanded! The staff were kind, and the atmosphere stayed comfortable throughout the meal. Great service, delicious food, and the convenient Gwangmyeong Station location—no wonder people come here!!!

Finishing with iron-plate fried rice

Ordering fried rice when you are about 80% full is perfect. This is my favorite time: frying the generous jjukumi on the iron plate and mixing it with rice, haha. They make all of the fried rice for you too, so once you order, there is nothing to touch—so relaxing!!! And if you join the review event, you get one fried rice free, so do not miss it haha.

Even the way out was thoughtful... they had cool hovenia tea ready for us. With fresh jjukumi, a generous spread, and exceptionally kind service, it was a satisfying meal overall. My parents really liked it too, saying this place was good. After shopping at Gwangmyeong AK Plaza, when looking for a good restaurant near Gwangmyeong Station, or when craving a spicy meal, I thought this would be just the place to visit. I think I could comfortably recommend it for a family meal or a gathering with friends.
