Exterior and atmosphere
The exterior was clean and a bit upscale. Fitting for a pot rice specialist, it made me expect a healthy, tidy meal.

Menu and what we ordered
There's a wide range of pot rice, so you can pick to your taste, plus dishes that go well alongside. With so many menu items, it seems to work as a rice place by day and a pub by night, and I bet many customers love it.

- Eel sotbap ₩22,000
- Stir-fried octopus & somyeon (thin wheat noodles) ₩28,000

What's the best way to eat the eel sotbap?
The first thing we tried was the eel sotbap (₩22,000). The full spread alone raised my expectations. There was plenty of eel, and above all the eel flavor was really good.

One bite and I thought, "Now that's the real thing." The rice itself was cooked fluffy and firm, a great match with the eel.

Wrapping the eel rice in seaweed (gim) was the best of all. The nuttiness of the eel and the flavor of the seaweed come together and the savory depth doubles 🥹 It's good with side dishes, good wrapped in seaweed, good on its own. I was amazed that it's delicious however you eat it, haha.

Even the scorched rice (nurungji) was delicious, sob. It was one of the most satisfying things I've eaten recently. If you're looking for a place near Jeongja Station, this eel sotbap is the first thing I'd recommend.

Can you order the stir-fried octopus & somyeon with the eel sotbap?
The stir-fried octopus & somyeon (₩28,000) we ordered alongside was also better than expected. It looked appetizing just sitting there, and the portion was generous.

The octopus wasn't tough, with a springy, plump texture, and the sauce was really tasty. It wasn't just sharp heat; the sauce had a rich savory depth, so I kept reaching for more 👍🏻

Tossing in the somyeon noodles made it a truly perfect combo. The sauce soaked into the noodles and every bite made me gasp with delight!!! Eating it with the eel sotbap was even more satisfying. The nutty eel pot rice and the spicy octopus complemented each other and the balance was great. I strongly recommend ordering both rather than just one.
Staff service: bean sprout soup served separately to each of us
After eating here, I immediately understood why so many people recommend Morang Haemul Sotbap Jeongja Station branch. You can feel care in every dish, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Above all, the staff and the owner were really kind, and I was impressed by how attentively they looked after whatever we needed during the meal.
I especially loved that they brought the bean sprout soup, which comes only with the eel sotbap, separately for each of us as a couple. It may be a small thing, but this kind of consideration raises satisfaction a lot. I see now why the place gets word-of-mouth buzz near Jeongja Station.

Would I go back to Morang Haemul Sotbap Jeongja Station branch?
Taste, service and atmosphere were all satisfying. The eel sotbap was so good I'd call it the best thing I've eaten lately, and the stir-fried octopus & somyeon was top-notch too. Add the kind owner and attentive staff, and we stayed happy through the whole meal.
If you're looking for a place to eat near Jeongja Station, I'm confident recommending Morang Haemul Sotbap Jeongja Station branch. Go on a day you crave a tasty pot rice meal, a day you want a family outing or date spot, or a day you want something hearty!! Next time I visit, I'll definitely order the eel sotbap again 😉
