Last weekend I went to Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch (베테랑 종합어시장 인천연수점), a Yeonsu favorite, with my husband and our dog Pudding! I'd been looking for a dog-friendly sashimi restaurant, and it turned out great: you can enjoy not just sashimi but also sushi, tempura, roe rice and spicy fish stew. I'd recommend it for family meals, group gatherings, and anyone searching for a dog-friendly sashimi place in Yeonsu. Here's my honest review. Let's goooo!

Is it easy to visit with a dog? Atmosphere and seating
The inside was bigger and more pleasant than I expected! With so much space and so many tables, it looks good for family meals, company dinners and group gatherings.
Even outside the rooms, there are lots of partitioned seats, so you can eat with a fair amount of privacy, which I liked. My husband made me promise to write this part, hahaha 🤍
When you bring a dog, tables too close to your neighbors can be stressful, but the partitions let us eat more comfortably! There's no separate dog-friendly area; the owner said some customers may be uncomfortable around dogs, so he guided us to eat further inside 🩷
When I visited, it opened at 11:00 so I did the opening rush, but it now opens at 11:30, so please note that! By around 11:30 lots of families and groups had arrived. Once mealtime hits, you really feel the busy Yeonsu-favorite vibe 👀✨

The table is stocked with chogochujang (sweet-and-sour chili sauce), soy sauce, spoons, chopsticks and tissues, and you order through the tabletop tablet!

What's at the self-bar?
There's a self-bar, and it was kept very clean. Help yourself to side dishes and sauces!
Pickled scallions (rakkyo) and ginger

- Lettuce, chili peppers, garlic, cabbage salad, dressing (when I took the photo I thought it was kimchi pancake batter, haha...)
- Ramyeon noodles, kimchi, wasabi, ssamjang (dipping paste), minced chili and garlic
- Bowls, scissors, tongs, lettuce dishes, sesame oil, salt
The highlight of Veteran! 👀✨ Next to the self-bar there's a spot where you can fry your own kimchi pancakes! It's perfect for while you wait for your food 🤍

Beside that are a coffee machine and an ice cream tub. Perfect for dessert after the meal!

There are also dishes, soju glasses, beer glasses, tissues, wet wipes, gas burners and butane gas dotted around, so grab whatever you need from there.

What does the ₩19,900 lunch special sashimi set (Jin) look like?
What we ordered was the lunch special sashimi set (Jin) for ₩19,900. It's available on weekends too, and centers on sashimi with sushi, seaweed soup, salad, tempura, salted pollack roe, grilled saury, roe rice and spicy fish stew. The whole table was packed, so it felt generous before we even started eating. Here's my honest review of each item~!
DIY kimchi pancake
While I was pressing down my kimchi pancake at the self-bar, our order had already been set out! I should have cooked it crispier, but I saw the table was ready and rushed back in a hurry, so it came out a little less crispy..haha

Still, frying it yourself is fun, and the seasoning was just right, so I enjoyed it!

Sashimi
The sashimi in the set came as five slices of each type. I tried the main dish first: nicely thick, a good chew, and you could tell it was fresh!
The texture differs by type, so it was fun to alternate. It went perfectly with any sauce, whether chogochujang, soy sauce or makjang (seasoned dipping paste), so I happily swapped between them >_<🤍

Sushi
Two kinds of sushi come out, and the salmon sushi was especially good! No fishy taste, and the rich, soft quality of salmon really came through.

Makjang and wasabi
The makjang was tasty, so I kept adding it to my sashimi between bites 🤍 I love wasabi on sashimi and sushi, and this was fresh wasabi without a sharp kick, so I piled it on.

Seaweed soup
The seaweed soup had a deep flavor from long, rich simmering. It was nice for warming up the stomach.
Salad
The salad has sashimi, cabbage, carrot, seaweed and flying fish roe. It was a bit different from an ordinary vegetable salad, but plain and nutty overall, so it was nice to have a bite now and then.
Tempura
The tempura comes in three kinds: shrimp, sweet pumpkin and sweet potato. It was crispy like high-end Japanese tempura, truly crunchy outside and moist inside. The shrimp weren't big, but they were still fine,

and the pumpkin and sweet potato had a gentle sweetness. With several kinds, you can pick by taste. We especially loved the sweet potato tempura! (I was eating so hard I have no photo of it,, hehe 😂)

Salted pollack roe
The salted pollack roe was salty and nutty in a charming way. It wasn't just salty; the garlic and chili added more flavor. I think it would go well with rice, too.
Grilled saury
The grilled saury had a faint smoky aroma and was grilled just right, not salty and nicely plain, so it was delicious! It has lots of bones, so be careful~! Thank you so much to my husband for picking out the bones while I was devouring it ♥
Roe rice
The roe rice came as two mini portions. On top of the rice were sesame seeds, flying fish roe, seaweed and pickled radish, and I especially liked the crunchy radish and the popping roe. It was plain overall, so it wasn't heavy alongside the other dishes!

Spicy fish stew
One of the items I was personally happiest with in the set was the spicy fish stew (maeuntang). It had fish, tofu, crown daisy, enoki mushrooms and bean sprouts, and the portion was really generous! There was quite a lot of meat left on the fish bones, too.
The broth was clean with no fishy taste. When I tasted it midway it was a little bland, so I added more ssamjang and boiled it again, and it became rich with great depth 💛 It was slightly spicy and sharp, great for finishing after sashimi!

I badly wanted to mix rice into the broth, but I was too full, so I just picked the fish clean and kept spooning up the broth. I wondered about ordering rice, but figured I'd leave it, so I skipped it, and I'm still thinking about it ㅠㅠ There's ramyeon at the self-bar too, so you can add free ramyeon noodles, but I passed because I was full! I always order maeuntang at a sashimi restaurant, so having it in the lunch special set made me so happy!
I finished with self-bar ice cream ✨

Verdict: will I return to this dog-friendly sashimi restaurant?

This Yeonsu favorite had a generous lunch special set and good quality overall, and being dog-friendly made me even happier. 100% I'll come back!! It has rooms for large groups and partitioned seats, so it also looked fine for family meals and gatherings.
