Family meal with kids at Mansuheon Jeongja, a Seongnam eel restaurant
Mansuheon Jeongja is a charcoal-grilled eel restaurant near Jeongja Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. The writer visited with a child for a meal of pre-grilled, low-temperature-aged Japonica charcoal eel in salt-grilled and seasoned versions, paired with Jirisan doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and Koshihikari rice, all cooked ahead in an open kitchen so the table stayed smoke-free. Between the pollack roe potato salad and the seaweed set aside just for the child, this made for a genuinely warm family dinner.
