Window-seat bun cha lunch at a Suwon Vietnamese restaurant: Madam Hao
In short
Madam Hao is a Hanoi street food restaurant in the Ajou University dining alley on World Cup-ro 193beon-gil in Suwon, Gyeonggi. At a weekday lunch in a full-height window seat, bun cha at 13,000 won and beef jjamppong pho at 12,000 won filled up two people, with generous charcoal-grilled pork, real smoky flavour and a red broth far milder than it looks. Madam Hao serves until 3am, so it works as both a lunch stop and a late-night drinking spot.

Inside Madam Hao: the window seats and table layout
Madam Hao's dining room stretches back with lots of tables, plus a separate space further inside, so it's roomy even for groups. Old black-and-white photos of Hanoi hang on the walls 📸 giving it a warm, soft atmosphere I liked 🧡 The place is also spotless ✨
Baby chairs are ready 👶 and disposable aprons hang on the wall
Big windows let in plenty of sunlight during the day ☀️ We sat by the window haha. The weather was gorgeous today too 🤩
Madam Hao's menu and the Naver review event

Madam Hao's Naver review event ✨ 2 free cha gio (Vietnamese spring rolls) 🫔

You order via tablet at the table 🖥️ The menu is seriously huge!! Pho, bun cha, bun bo Hue, banh mi, pad thai, cha ca la vong, banh khot, cha gio, mango salad and more — such a wide range of Vietnamese dishes, plus drinking snacks like sweet-and-sour pork and jjamppong soup, sausages, and even Hanoi and Saigon Vietnamese beer for drinks 🍺 Would be a great spot to come for a drink in the evening too 🍻

What we ordered: ✔️ Bun cha ₩13,000 ✔️ Beef jjamppong pho ₩12,000. Every table gets chili sauce and hoisin sauce, plus complimentary shrimp chips, kimchi, and pickled radish.
How is the bun cha at Madam Hao for 13,000 won?
Madam Hao's bun cha comes in a bamboo basket with rice noodles, charcoal-grilled pork, vegetables and herbs, and nuoc mam dipping sauce all together. There's an instruction card on the table so even first-timers can easily follow along 📋 Put in noodles → add meat → add lettuce and herbs → pour nuoc mam sauce and mix 🥩🥬

🥢 Bun cha 🥩 Served in a bamboo basket — the plating alone is so pretty 😍 Made up of rice noodles, charcoal-grilled pork, veggies and herbs, and nuoc mam sauce!

The portion of charcoal-grilled pork was seriously generous 🤩 The meat was tender and top quality 👍 with real smoky char and a slightly sweet flavor that kept me reaching for more 🤤
Dipping the meat in the sweet-and-sour sauce and wrapping it in lettuce was the perfect combo 🤤 If the sauce is too sweet or sour you can ask for lemon or sugar! But honestly it was just right as is haha.

Beef jjamppong pho, 12,000 won: how spicy is the red broth?
Madam Hao's beef jjamppong pho, ₩12,000, looks fiery red but was actually milder than expected! Even someone who can't handle spice should be able to enjoy this 👍

It's spicy-savory with a rich beef broth flavor, and packed with big chunks of meat 🥩 The meat is also soft and easy to eat.

The wide flat rice noodles paired really well with the broth! 🍜 The bean sprouts were crisp too, nice and fresh 🌱 I kept slurping the broth — saving this as my go-to pho near Ajou University 👏

Madam Hao has solid value and great taste, so I highly recommend it for lunch near Ajou University 👍 Both the bun cha and the pho were delicious! A filling bowl of pho for lunch 🍜, a beer at night 🍻 — this place works either way. If you're craving Vietnamese food near Ajou University, Madam Hao is a full recommendation 😆 100% would come back! Next time I need to try the cha ca la vong and banh khot 🤤
