Suwon hanwoo shabu lunch with 60g chuck and brisket add-ons: Sodamchon

I'm on a diet these days so I need meals that are tasty AND healthy!! Shabu-shabu is my absolute favorite haha. This time I went for lunch🍲 at Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch!

I was going to go shopping at Starfield too, so I searched for a good shabu-shabu place near Starfield Suwon and ended up here — the restaurant was spacious, upscale and clean!✨️ The self-bar had a great variety and quality! You can do shabu-shabu, spring rolls, kalguksu noodles, porridge and dessert all in one visit, so I came home totally stuffed lol🤤

After the meal there's a big café space where you can have coffee, drinks and ice cream, which is the best☕️🍨👍 They even have baby chairs and a kids room, so it looks perfect to bring a baby along — I definitely have to come back with mine👶 If you're looking for a family restaurant in Suwon or a place to eat near Starfield Suwon, Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch was totally satisfying💕

If you're driving to Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch, use Seonil Parking Lot🚗 It's clearly marked on a big sign in front of the restaurant, so even first-timers can find it easily — and parking is free for 90 minutes when you eat at Sodamchon!👍

You can use the 3rd and 4th floors above ground, and it's very spacious so parking was easy. After parking, just cross the street and you're right at Sodamchon!! It's on the 4th floor of the building with A Twosome Place.

The café space that surprised me the moment I walked in! It's a café you can use after eating at Sodamchon, and it was spacious with a wide variety of drinks👍👍

Once inside the main dining area, the scale was huge👀 Lots of tables, divided by partitions, so there was plenty of distance from neighboring tables. Overall it had an upscale, comfortable vibe!😍 The space is big enough for family meals or gatherings with several people. I saw a lot of customers with babies too☺️

Plenty of baby chairs are ready🪑 And a kids cinema!!👶🎦 There's a space for babies to play, which is so nice haha. The moment I saw it I thought, I definitely need to come back with my baby haha. The whole inside is soft mats and cushions, with a spot to sit and watch videos — super useful for families with kids👍

Ordering the lunch-special premium hanwoo shabu set for two

From the lunch special to wagyu, hanwoo, mushroom and seafood shabu, there was a wide variety of menu options🍲 You can add pork neck, brisket, wagyu, hanwoo neck🥩 mushrooms🍄 and seafood🦑🐙 too! The rice balls looked delicious too haha🍙🍘

We ordered the lunch-special premium hanwoo shabu set for two! It comes with 70g of hanwoo neck and king oyster mushroom🥩🍄

At the last step of ordering, you can choose the broth. We went with half mild, half spicy~☺️

The sauce dishes and spring roll vegetable plate were impressive!! Each section is labeled by name, so it was easy to portion out👏 Four kinds of sauce come pre-set on the table!

The fresh refill bar that sets Sodamchon apart

Sodamchon's strength is definitely its fresh refill bar made with good ingredients!💕 From shabu vegetables to mushrooms, fish cakes, dumplings, sweet pumpkin, rice cakes, noodles — there was such a wide variety of ingredients to add in👍

You can also self-refill the broth! The dongchimi (watery radish kimchi) was refreshing and tangy, so good🤤 You can mix sauces to your taste too.

• Chili sauce: garlic + cheongyang chili
• Peanut sauce: peanut powder
• Ponzu sauce: green onion + cheongyang chili + onion

I made a little bit of everything and switched dips depending on the meat, and eating spring rolls too meant more sauce variety to enjoy haha🤤

Side dishes like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), salad, banchan, bread before the meal, and mushroom soup were also solid😆 The mushroom soup was hot too, perfect to have a bowl before starting the shabu☺️

The vegetables you put into the shabu, plus fish cake, mushrooms, dumpling soup (sujebi) and fresh kalguksu noodles — the quality was so good👍

Vegetables for the spring rolls🥕🥬🥒🧅 Carrot, purple cabbage, cucumber, onion, sprouts — just put them in the bowl set on the table☺️

Premium hanwoo shabu with 60g chuck and brisket added

Premium hanwoo!🥩 The color was vivid and the marbling was just right, top quality just to look at👍👍 A large king oyster mushroom comes along too — I cut it into long strips and put it into the shabu, giving it a chewy, great texture🍄

And the meat I added! Pork neck and brisket, 60g each split half and half~🥩🥩 It was better than adding just one kind haha. If you love beef, I recommend the add-on! Eat beef until you burst lol

Meat gets tough if overcooked, so dip it briefly in the boiling broth and pull it out the moment the color changes! It was tender and savory🤤 Ordering hanwoo really paid off haha.

The half-and-half broth was totally satisfying too😍 A clean plain broth, a spicy fiery broth! I started with the plain broth for a light taste, then switched to the spicy one in between — the umami was the best😍

Spring roll time~! Load up rice paper with lots of vegetables and well-cooked meat, roll it up, dip it in chili sauce or peanut sauce — the combo of crunchy vegetables and tender meat is the best!! Shabu-shabu plus spring rolls really never fails💕

Kalguksu, sujebi and the porridge finish

Acorn sujebi (dumpling soup), kalguksu noodles, dumplings too!!🥟 Once the broth got richer and I added the noodles and sujebi, it was so chewy and delicious, I kept eating even though I was full lol

I can never resist the final porridge at shabu-shabu lol. Scoop out the leftover bits and broth from the pot, add rice and a bit more broth, and stir-fry it!🍚 At the end, add an egg🥚 and stir while cooking — the savory smell wafts up. So savory and moist, it was really delicious🤤 A perfect finish!🤍

After the meal, you can use the separate café space provided☕️

There was a coffee machine, ice cream, and black tea too🍨 Meal, then ice cream and coffee~ a true full course lol. Being able to sit with a coffee and rest for a bit was also a nice touch☺️

Is Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch worth it? Final verdict

With the lunch-special premium hanwoo shabu, we got to eat hanwoo, shabu-shabu, and spring rolls all together, which was totally filling~ The self-bar food was substantial and great quality!! The vegetables especially were fresh🥬

Shabu → spring rolls → noodles → porridge → bread, coffee🤤 We really ate our way through it all lol!

The restaurant is spacious, has baby chairs and a kids room, so it's great to visit with a baby, and also good for family meals with parents or gatherings👏 If you're looking for a place to eat near Starfield Suwon, a family restaurant in Suwon, or a good shabu-shabu spot in Suwon, I highly recommend Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch☺️
