I visited Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch (똑순이아구찜 잠실 직영점), right in front of Olympic Park, haha. I went on a weekend evening and it was packed. But the wait was worth it, because I totally fell for this distinctive monkfish stew haha. It's said to be a 50-year-tradition Jamsil monkfish stew place, and true to that, there are a ridiculous number of people. Honestly shocking crowds!

There is parking behind the restaurant, but there aren't many spaces.

I recommend the public parking lot right in front of the restaurant or the Olympic Park parking lot ⭐⭐⭐ If you're looking for a place to eat near Olympic Park, the location is worth keeping in mind too haha.

How long is the weekend dinner wait at Ttoksuni in Jamsil?

When I visited Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch at 7pm on a weekend, I waited about 40 minutes before being seated. The inside is spacious with plenty of tables, so

Especially, if you go too late they may run out of ingredients. Around 8:30pm, they sold out..!! If you're planning to visit while searching for a Jamsil or Bangi restaurant, I recommend moving fast, keeping the wait time and closing in mind 😉

What comes in the ₩55,000 Value Set?

Ttoksuni Value Set order
  • Ordered: Value Set, ₩55,000
  • Medium-size monkfish stew
  • Spice level 3, mildly spicy
  • Flying fish roe fried rice included

The Ttoksuni Value Set comes with fried rice along with the monkfish stew, so it was a hearty, filling meal.

How was the medium monkfish stew at spice level 3?

What impressed me most about Ttoksuni's monkfish stew was the texture. The fish is incredibly tender, and it practically melted in my mouth.

Medium-size monkfish stew with tender fish

It keeps that characteristic monkfish texture without being tough or dry, so it was easy to eat. I chose level 3, mildly spicy, and it wasn't very hot at all; the pleasantly spicy sauce went really well with the tender fish.

With monkfish stew, the sauce matters, but I think how tender the fish is decides how satisfied you are. The medium size was a good amount for two people, and overall it made a filling meal. If you're looking for Jamsil monkfish stew, or you're searching Bangi and can't decide where to go, I recommend it!

After the stew, I also had the flying fish roe fried rice included in the Value Set haha

Ttoksuni's roe fried rice isn't made by scooping out the stew sauce and stir-frying rice in it; it's served separately on an iron plate!!

A fried egg comes with it too, so protein covered, lol

The roe fried rice is ₩10,000 on its own, but it's cheaper as part of the Value Set, so I recommend ordering the set 😙 Finishing with fried rice after the stew made the meal even more filling. If you order the monkfish stew, I recommend getting the fried rice too!

What side dishes come with the monkfish stew?

Ttoksuni's side dishes are presented as a Jeolla-style spread 😙

👉 Perilla seaweed soup, bugak (crispy fried seaweed), water kimchi, pickled radish, bean sprouts. The bugak is salty, so it's great for cleansing your palate between bites of the spicy stew.

The fried pepper that comes as a side dish: maybe because it comes out freshly fried, it was crispy, and the seasoning of the meat filling inside the pepper was just perfect 👍

Green onion kimchi at the Ttoksuni self-serve bar

There's even green onion kimchi at the self-serve bar ❤️❤️ Ttoksuni, perfect down to the side dishes!! I hereby appoint it a Jamsil and Songpa must-eat spot, lol

Verdict: is Ttoksuni Agujjim in Jamsil worth the wait?

  • Easy to reach, right in front of Olympic Park
  • A spot worth recommending as a Jamsil and Songpa favorite
  • Spacious inside, good for family or friends
  • Weekend evenings can have a wait, so checking ahead is recommended
  • Tender fish that melts in your mouth was impressive
  • Monkfish stew plus roe fried rice makes a filling meal
  • Parking is limited, so consider the nearby public lots

Overall, Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch was a great place to enjoy tender monkfish stew in a hearty meal. The wait on a weekend evening was quite long, but the meal itself was satisfying haha. If you're looking for monkfish stew near Olympic Park, or searching for a Songpa or Jamsil restaurant, it's a good candidate. The space is big enough for several people, so I'd strongly recommend it if you're scouting a Jamsil company dinner spot.
