Seokchon Station Italian restaurant, crème brûlée birthday: Allegro

This time I visited Allegro, a stylish restaurant that just opened not long ago in Bangi-dong. The overall vibe is calm and upscale, so it's a great pick if you're looking for a Songpa restaurant or an Italian/pasta spot around Jamsil.

Allegro's biggest draw is that you get to enjoy a live jazz performance along with your meal! Good food plus live jazz made this feel way more special than an ordinary dinner. Between the atmosphere and the show, it's a place I'd recommend if you're looking for somewhere to spend a birthday or anniversary near Jamsil.

Where is Allegro? Location, parking and hours near Seokchon Station

• Location: 3F, 57-1 Olympic-ro 32-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, about 1 minute on foot from Songpanaru Station
• Parking: Free valet for up to 3 cars in the building's lot at lunchtime (not available in the evening). I'd recommend the paid lot at nearby Toru Parking Songpa Yonsei branch, or 10,500 won for 3 hours via the Modoo Parking app
• Hours: 12pm–11pm, break time 3pm–6pm, last order 9:30pm
• Closed every Tuesday

Allegro is really close to Seokchon Station. Just a short walk from the exit gets you there, so it's easy to reach, and the surrounding street is quiet and calm, giving off a different vibe from the busier Jamsil area.

In the evening, the sign glows softly — it doesn't stand out from far away, but blends naturally into the surroundings. The restaurant is on the 3rd floor, and there's a menu board set out on the ground floor outside.

When you come up to the 3rd floor at Allegro, there's a nice piece of art and this month's performance schedule. Since the whole schedule is listed out, it looks like a good idea to check ahead and plan your visit around a musician you like.

The interior overall has dim lighting, which set a nice mood, and the white walls added a minimal, modern feel on top of that. Every seat was arranged so you could comfortably face the performance area, no matter where you sat. You never had to turn your head or shift into an awkward position during the show, so you could just relax and enjoy it.

Watching the staff check things over one by one before the music started got me a little excited even before it began. The lighting and the overall vibe of the space were so good that even the waiting time before the show felt enjoyable.

There were also tables like this that could be pushed together, so it looked like it could easily seat four. Most of the guests when I visited were parties of two, though!

• Set 2 runs from 8:25pm to 9:05pm
• Each set runs for 40 minutes
• There's a separate per-person live charge: 15,000 won on Fri/Sat/Sun, 10,000 won on weekdays

Allegro's menu and the one-item-per-person rule

Allegro's menu is broadly divided into meats (steaks, polpo), pastas, salads, and side dishes that pair well with wine. This place is clearly not a jazz bar — since it's one menu item per person, you should really come with the intention of having a proper meal!

And then there's the drinks list. Everything from upscale wines to whiskey is on offer. My companion and I can't drink, so we passed!

The basic table setting is done properly and neatly like this. With the cutlery and glasses lined up so tidily on the table, everything felt clean and put-together the moment we sat down. Even the water was poured for us directly each time, which really made it feel like a proper fine-dining spot.

Bread basket and seafood salad at Allegro

The bread that came out first! It really doesn't look like much, but I can't figure out why it's so good. Crisp outside and warm inside, it kept my hand reaching for more even eaten plain. I didn't eat it all at once — I saved a little to have with the cream gnocchi later, and it was such a great pairing. The savory, thick cream sauce soaked right into the bread, making it taste twice as good as eating it alone.

The first dish out was the seafood salad! To cut to the chase, I'm so glad I picked this. The tangy flavor with a real punch of umami woke up my appetite from the very first bite. In particular, the sauce paired so well with the seafood that I kept going back for more.

There was a good variety of ingredients inside too, so it was fun picking through bite by bite, and there was plenty of seafood, so I never got tired of it even to the last bite. The first dish alone was so satisfying that I got even more excited for what was coming next. I couldn't even count how many ingredients were in there — tomato, onion, olives, bell pepper, green peas, mussels, shrimp, octopus — it was packed with fresh, seasonal summer produce.

The best dish at Allegro: cream potato gnocchi

And then the best dish of the night — cream potato gnocchi. Another really good choice. 🥹👍 Rather than an ordinary cream gnocchi, it had crunchy bits mixed in that took the texture up a notch. I couldn't quite tell if it was nuts or bread crust, but something was really crisp and nutty in every bite.

The gnocchi itself needs no explanation — chewy, soft, and full of that real potato flavor. Delicious gnocchi through and through.

Allegro's pork neck steak and how big the portion is

Next came the pork neck steak. I was already pretty full from the earlier dishes, but I was surprised by how much pork neck came out — it looked like at least 600 grams!

The pork neck steak had a nice chew to it and the portion was generous. The sauce was delicious and paired well with the meat, and the fries were good for dipping too. Now I'm curious about the polpo dish for next time!

Watching the show while eating good food really doubles the enjoyment. Slowly savoring the food while listening to the music, focusing on the performance and then taking another bite in between — that time was so good. It felt way more special than just a meal, like I was properly soaking in what makes this place unique.

And one perk of booking through Catchtable — there's a birthday box you can check, and since I happened to visit right around my birthday, I was able to request a birthday dessert. They brought out a crème brûlée and chocolate brownie, and it was so cute and lovely... 🥹 Thanks to that, I got to have a pretty amazing early birthday.

One thing that was quietly touching was that there was even mouthwash set out in the restroom! After a meal, your mouth can sometimes feel a bit off, and being able to freshen up right away felt like a thoughtful touch. Especially since this is a space for enjoying both a meal and a show, it felt like they'd thought through even these small details.

Which occasions Allegro suits best

Allegro, a Jamsil-area Italian restaurant where you get good food plus live jazz, left a much stronger impression than just going out for a regular meal. If you're looking for a nice-atmosphere Songpa restaurant, or want to spend a slightly special evening around Jamsil over pasta and Italian food, I'd recommend it.

Above all, being able to enjoy live jazz right in front of you is the biggest draw! You can chat quietly, eat great food, and enjoy the show, which makes it perfect for a Jamsil date as well as special occasions like a birthday or anniversary. Visiting right around my birthday and getting to properly enjoy the show, the food, and that adorable birthday dessert made this a place I'll remember fondly. Next time, I want to check the show schedule ahead of time and come back to see a different musician!
