Yeouido izakaya with lamb ribs and pasta: Nani Yeouido Branch

After work, I went to Nani Yeouido Branch (나니 여의도점) because I wanted Japanese-style dishes with a drink. I tend to enjoy the food more than the alcohol, and I liked the combination of the perilla oil octopus pasta and lamb shoulder rack I had that day.

How do you get there from Yeouido Station?

It is on the third floor of the S-TRENUE Building near Exit 3 of Yeouido Station. The address is 37 Gukjegeumyung-ro 2-gil, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It was easy to find because it is close to the station.

What were the seating and window atmosphere like for a date?

The atmosphere near the entrance differed from the deeper interior. Every table had wood partitions, which made them feel separated like private rooms.

The window-side seats in particular felt open, with an unobstructed view through the floor-to-ceiling windows. It was bright around the end of the workday, and later I could see the night view. If I came back for a date, I would want to sit by the window.

What did the perilla oil octopus pasta taste like?

The perilla oil octopus pasta looked different from what I had expected. It had thin pasta noodles topped with octopus jeotgal (salt-fermented octopus) and fresh perilla leaves, with the nutty aroma of perilla oil.

At first, it reminded me of bibim guksu (mixed noodles). The capellini noodles were as thin as somyeon, but they stayed chewy without getting too soft until the end. The chewy octopus and fragrant perilla leaves came together with a pleasant savory flavor.

Did the lamb shoulder rack go well with the pasta?

The lamb shoulder rack arrived on a hot plate. I first noticed the sizzling sound and the aroma of the meat.

It felt like a fairly generous portion compared with how it looked in the photos. I usually enjoy lamb skewers, and I liked that this shoulder rack had no noticeable gamey smell and tasted savory.

The meat itself was already seasoned to some extent. I ate it with the cumin seasoning and sauce that came with it, and its flavor also went well with a cold draft beer.

Eating it with the perilla oil octopus pasta, the textures and flavors matched well. Like having meat with bibim guksu, the savory lamb came together with chewy noodles and octopus.

I liked both dishes more than I expected, and the view outside also stayed with me. It is a place that may come to mind if you want to enjoy food in seating that feels separated by partitions, or are looking for a date spot with a window-side atmosphere.
