At Bongpyeong Gohyang Makguksu (봉평고향막국수), a Korean restaurant in Wonsin-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, I ate deulkkae memil kalguksu (buckwheat noodle soup with perilla seeds) and memil buchimgae (buckwheat pancake). I liked the nutty broth, chewy house-made noodles and ongsimi (potato dumplings), and the mildly seasoned pancake. The spacious dining room and parking lot also seemed well suited to family meals or group gatherings.
Baekheukdam is a Korean restaurant on Misadong-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi, where I had perilla seed samgyetang for lunch. The generous portion, creamy-nutty broth, and tender chicken breast stood out; the spacious seating and parking also felt suited to family meals or groups.
Nani Yeouido Branch is an izakaya on the third floor of the S-TRENUE Building near Exit 3 of Yeouido Station in Seoul. After work, I had perilla oil octopus pasta and lamb shoulder rack; the chewy noodles and savory lamb worked especially well together. The wood-partitioned seating and window view shifting from daylight to night stood out.
Bibisam Gwacheon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant about a one-minute walk from Exit 11 of Government Complex Gwacheon Station. I tried bulgogi bibimbap, two kinds of tteokgalbi, and octopus stone-pot rice; the latter was my favorite for its chewy octopus and crisp scorched rice, though there was a wait at weekend lunch.
