Ultrasonic-washed vegetables at a Gangnam poke restaurant: Ola Poke

In short

Ola Poke Gangnam is a poke restaurant a four-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 4 in Seoul, with plenty of solo tables. The writer ordered the Original Tuna Poke at 12,000 won and the Norwegian Fresh Salmon Poke at 13,500 won, both on a half-vegetable, half-rice base, and was impressed that Ola Poke Gangnam brings in vegetables from Garak Market every morning and cleans them with a 3D ultrasonic washer. A good fit for a light but filling meal on your own.

I really, really love poke! It uses a lot of healthy ingredients, and it's more filling than a plain salad while still tasting great, so I end up eating it a lot 🥦🥕

How Ola Poke Gangnam washes its vegetables

Among poke places, I especially like Ola Poke! Since the vegetables are eaten raw, washing and hygiene management really matter — did you know that? Ola Poke gets fresh vegetables from Garak Market every morning and has a specialized company run them through a 3D ultrasonic wash and dehydration process before use!

They say they pay close attention to washing and hygiene management to make sure no foreign matter is left behind, haha. Since these are vegetables you eat raw every day, checking on this side of things made me feel a lot more reassured about eating there 👍🏻

Solo tables made for eating alone

Ola Poke Gangnam has a lot of solo tables, so it seemed like a great spot for eating alone! It was nice having seats where you could eat comfortably without worrying about people around you, haha.

The tables have plenty of space, so even visiting during lunch or other busy meal times, it seemed like you could still eat fairly comfortably!

For water, they had a thoughtful touch — warm rooibos tea and lemon water!

They even had hair ties and mouthwash on hand — such a nice touch 😍 Kudos to the owner for the thoughtfulness 👍🏻

How to order in 4 steps

  • 1. Choose a menu: pick the dish you like.
  • 2. Choose a base: salad, oat brown rice, or buckwheat noodles.
  • 3. Choose sauces: pick a base sauce and a topping sauce. Recommended sauces are pre-selected by default, but you can choose to your taste among sriracha, chili garlic, wasabi, teriyaki, truffle, horseradish, and black sesame.
  • 4. Adjust toppings/garnish: you can remove or add any of the basic toppings and main toppings.

< Standard composition > 7 basic toppings (red onion, corn kernels, pickled beet, pineapple, seaweed, lentils, chickpeas) + 3 garnishes (furikake, crispy onion, parsley)

< Dressing note > All poke bases (salad, oat brown rice, buckwheat noodles) come with a soy-based dressing already drizzled on by default. If it's not salty enough for you, you can add more at the self-serve bar!

Original Tuna Poke, 12,000 won

Tuna is a classic high-protein, low-fat food~ I picked the Original Tuna Poke, generously loaded with carefully selected, high-quality raw tuna! I went with a half-veggie, half-rice base!

For reference, all of Ola Poke's sauces are homemade — not store-bought products! Even the soy-based sauce is boiled and made in-house, so you can taste a sauce flavor that's uniquely Ola Poke's own 😊

The tuna poke had rice and fresh vegetables as the base, along with a variety of ingredients like flying fish roe, pineapple, pickled radish wrap, and chickpeas!

The flying fish roe added a popping texture, and the pickled radish was crisp and tangy, which paired really well with the tuna 👍🏻

A spoonful of poke with tuna and chickpeas mixed in

If I just eat salad, I get hungry again within two hours 🥲 The tuna poke has rice and chickpeas mixed in, so it's just right for a filling, satisfying meal!! With fresh ingredients plus a variety of toppings, it was a tuna poke I could eat without getting bored :)

Norwegian Fresh Salmon Poke, 13,500 won

For the salmon poke too, I went with a half-veggie, half-rice base. It uses Norwegian superior-grade fresh salmon and is Ola Poke's bestseller. With a generous 100g of salmon, I could enjoy it hearty all the way to the last bite 💛

Norwegian Fresh Salmon Poke topped with 100g of salmon

First they drizzled on the sauce! I like my food on the lighter side, so I only used about 2/3 of the sauce.

Ola Poke doesn't use smoked salmon — they only use fresh raw salmon and fresh raw tuna! Eating it, you could really taste the freshness of the salmon itself, and the distinctively soft texture and nutty flavor really stood out ✨

Then I mixed the sauce, vegetables, salmon, and the rest of the ingredients all together! Mixing everything thoroughly before the first bite let the sauce coat the vegetables and salmon evenly, which made it taste even better.

The soft salmon paired well with the crisp vegetables and raw onion, and the pop of corn along with the sweet pineapple mixed in added more flavor and texture variety than I expected!!

The crispy onion topping especially made the overall texture so much richer, which I loved 😆

Poke isn't heavy but still fills you up as a full meal, so it seems like the perfect option when you want to eat light and healthy 💪🏻

Table at Ola Poke Gangnam after the meal

Would I go back to Ola Poke Gangnam?

Ola Poke also says they select only pure lean beef with the fascia removed! I could really feel their commitment to good ingredients, using only quality lean meat with no unnecessary parts. And personally, one of the things I was most satisfied with was that they use professionally washed vegetables — it really gave me the sense that they pay attention to every single ingredient ✨👍🏻

Ola Poke is a salad spot where you can trust not just the taste but the ingredients and hygiene too, so give it a visit when you want to eat a healthy meal 🥦🥕
