Bangwha-dong rice cake shop with pastel pink flower cakes: Yeonhanbit

In short

Yeonhanbit Atelier (연한빛아뜰리에) is a pickup-only bean-paste flower rice cake (tteok cake) and rice dessert shop near Exit 3 of Bangwha Station in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. For a 1,300-day anniversary, the writer reserved a size-1 pastel pink flower cake with choco sulgi (steamed rice cake) for 60,000 won, and Yeonhanbit Atelier added three mini candles, candied walnuts, a cake knife and matches. The rice cake base held the design steady even while the cake was carried around, which was its biggest strength.

Yeonhanbit Atelier is a reservation-and-pickup-only shop, so you just need to book ahead. It's open both weekdays and weekends, which was great because pickup wasn't tied to whatever day of the week the anniversary fell on.

The owner replied quickly and was really kind while we sorted out the cake order haha.

What the size-1 flower rice cake costs and how to order it

What I ordered from Yeonhanbit Atelier was a size-1 anggeum flower (bean-paste flower) tteok cake, priced at ₩60,000. Here's how the order form looked.

  • Cake size: Size 1
  • Design: Anggeum flower tteok cake
  • Color: Pastel pink
  • Sulgi flavor: Chocolate
  • Cake stamp text: None
  • Other requests: 1 candle
  • 💵 Price: ₩60,000

They made it so beautifully after I placed this order, honestly ❤ Every item at Yeonhanbit Atelier runs on a reservation system, and they recommend booking at least 3 days before your order date.

The finished size-1 anggeum flower tteok cake

Since it was our 1,300-day anniversary, number candles felt a bit awkward, so I was just going to stick in one squiggly candle — but the owner recommended these mini candles instead, saying number candles are usually used for milestone birthdays like 70th or 80th. So I picked 3 mini candles!

Packaging and free extras: ribbon box, candied walnuts, matches

The tteok cake came in a clear packaging box with a pretty ribbon decoration both inside and out — it felt so thoughtfully put together, and I loved it.

I also got a piece of walnut jeonggwa (candied walnut) as a free extra — sweet and nutty, genuinely delicious 💖

You know how when you're carrying a cake around, you keep peeking in to check if the shape got messed up? But unlike a regular cream cake, this tteok cake had a firm tteok base holding everything in place with the bean paste on top, so it never lost its shape — and since the packaging was clear, I could see it clearly too.

Cake knife and matches included with the order

A cake knife and matches came included too, so I didn't even need a separate lighter!

Yeonhanbit Atelier business card

They also handed me a business card for Yeonhanbit Atelier, this well-known tteok cake shop in Gangseo-gu. They specialize in anggeum flower tteok cakes, gift tteok, 100-day and first-birthday (dol) tteok cakes, and rice desserts, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy dessert alternative.

| How to enjoy it | Best eaten the same day (do not refrigerate)

| How to store | If you have leftovers, separate the tteok and the bean paste for storage (freeze the tteok / refrigerate the bean paste). Let the stored tteok thaw naturally, or warm it in the microwave for an even better taste.

| Notice | All products are said to be made with domestic rice, ground in-house at the shop. The Earl Grey, sweet pumpkin, black sesame, and apricot sulgi flavors contain homemade jam made by Yeonhanbit Atelier.

How detailed are the bean-paste flowers up close?

Here's an overhead shot of Yeonhanbit Atelier's anggeum flower tteok cake. The flower work is genuinely so intricate and well made.

Each anggeum flower tteok cake is made by hand, one flower at a time, and can be customized from soft pastel tones to vibrant color designs depending on the mood you want.

I like a clean look, so I skipped the cake stamp text, but since this kind of design is usually used for 100-day celebrations, first birthdays, or parents' 70th/80th birthdays, I think it'd look even prettier with a stamped phrase like "100 Days" or "70th Birthday."

Here's how it looked once I stuck in the mini candles from the free extras haha.

What choco sulgi tastes like: chocolate sauce hidden inside

Here's the choco flavor from the side.

The sweet baekseolgi base has a subtle chocolate flavor, and eating it together with the chocolate sauce made it even better.

Two of us ate a quarter of the cake, and the next day we microwaved the rest to warm it up — tteok really does taste best warm, and the warm chocolate sauce oozing out made it even more delicious.
