Korean restaurant lunch with parents in Sejong: Bapkkot Hansang
In short
Bapkkot Hansang is a Korean restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Sejongmachi building on Doum8-ro in Sejong, right next to Sejong Lake Park. For a weekend lunch, the table and menu were booked ahead via Naver Reservation, and the ₩25,000 Bapkkot Teukseon set, ordered for two, arrived course-style in two rounds: jeon (savory pancakes), suyuk muchim (seasoned boiled pork), mushroom and eggplant stir-fry, Korean Handon pork tteokgalbi (grilled patties), gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste stew) and five kinds of namul (seasoned vegetables). Bapkkot Hansang is a calm Korean restaurant that is well suited to a meal with parents.

I was craving Korean food on the weekend, so while looking for somewhere to eat I found Bapkkot Hansang (밥꽃한상) near Sejong Lake Park. It had been a while since I got to eat my fill of really good Korean food, so it was a satisfying meal 😊

It's located on the 3rd floor of the Sejongmachi building. This building sits right next to Sejong Lake Park, and other popular restaurants like Mekong Thai and Gyeongju-jip are in the same building, so it seems to draw a lot of visitors.

Weekend lunch atmosphere — Naver Reservation made it easy
The interior overall was clean and neat. The dark wood and blinds give it a touch of elegance too. It was busy since it was weekend lunchtime, but being able to reserve both the table and the menu in advance through Naver Reservation made things convenient 👍

There were quite a few people who'd brought their parents along, and rather than being loud, the atmosphere was calm, which seemed like it would suit dining with older family members well. Sure enough, there were tables ranging from a sangyeonrye (formal meeting between families before marriage) to birthday celebrations — the kind of place that fits special occasions.
Bapkkot Teukseon set, ₩25,000, pre-ordered for two

We pre-ordered the Bapkkot Teukseon, Bapkkot Hansang's own course-style set meal, for two people. Bapkkot Teukseon, ₩25,000 ✨
First round — jeon, suyuk, tofu kimchi, salad
The side dishes come out in two rounds like a course meal. First up are lighter Korean dishes you can enjoy easily: jeon (savory pancake), suyuk (boiled pork), tofu kimchi, and salad.

The suyuk muchim (seasoned boiled pork) with its seasoning was especially delicious. It wasn't overly salty, so it was a light, easy palate cleanser.

This mushroom-eggplant stir-fry was also tasty. The soybean-paste-based seasoning soaked in well, so the flavor was spot-on even without rice 😊

The jeon (savory pancake) was crispy at the edges and moist in the middle — really well pan-fried 👍🏻👍🏻

On top of that, the salad and noodle appetizers were all distinctive and delicious too. Satisfying to eat a bite of each before the main dishes arrived 💓
Main dishes — Hanwoo pork tteokgalbi

The main dishes start with tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties). Shaped from Korean pork, it looked really appetizing ✨

It's cut into easy, bite-sized pieces. Since it's served on a hot stone plate, it stayed piping hot right to the end. Juicy yet tender in texture — the best 👍🏻

The slightly sweet tteokgalbi sauce and soft texture went so well with the warm white rice that I felt like I could finish a whole bowl with this alone 💓
Gangdoenjang and clear doenjang soup

The gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste stew) and clear doenjang soup were also memorable. Savory doenjang simmered slowly with shiitake and king oyster mushrooms from Chungnam and a variety of vegetables — not harsh at all, with deep umami, just so good. Mixing gangdoenjang into warm white rice made the rice disappear effortlessly. This feels like the charm of Korean food ✨

The clear, light doenjang soup was refreshing too. Overall the seasoning was just right, so it stayed enjoyable as a palate cleanser right to the end 😊

There were as many as five kinds of namul (seasoned vegetables) and cucumber muchim, too. It was satisfying to get to enjoy my fill of namul dishes that aren't easy to make at home 🥹
Recommended for a family meal in Sejong
If you're looking for a refined Korean restaurant in Sejong for a family meal or to bring your parents to, I'd recommend Bapkkot Hansang 👍🏻. Every dish was carefully prepared, the course was substantial, and it was great to enjoy a wide variety of Korean food all at once. A Sejong restaurant I'd love to visit again next time I have a meal with my parents 💓
