I found Chat Baker (챗베이커) in Anseong while looking for a bakery café with a nice atmosphere on a weekend drive. These days I find myself looking for places where the bread is good and the space is pretty, not just the coffee, and Chat Baker ticked every box. Now that I've been, I understand why it's such a popular date and drive spot in Anseong.

What are the exterior and parking like at Chat Baker?
Chat Baker in Gongdo, Anseong is a clean, atmospheric building, and the parking lot is big enough that parking was almost no trouble even on a weekend. The building was the first thing that caught my eye when I arrived.
It feels modern overall but not cold, with a warm vibe too, so it's great for photos. Even though I visited on a weekend, parking was no big hassle. In Anseong, where lots of people come by car, parking matters, and I was happy with this too.
What breads does Chat Baker have?
The display has everything from croissants to salt bread, meal breads and sweet desserts, and it kept getting refilled while I was there. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the smell of freshly baked bread.
As you'd expect from a bakery café, everything looked delicious, and I agonized for a long time over what to pick. Each bread is a good size and looks great, and quite a few people were buying them as gifts. New items kept coming out while I was choosing, so I kept going back for another look.
Is the seating inside Chat Baker spacious?
The interior is quite large and the tables are spaced out, so staying a long time feels easy. I could chat comfortably without worrying about bumping into the people next to us, and the whole place felt open.
The lighting is good too: in the daytime natural light comes in beautifully and photos turn out really well. Some people were reading alone or working on laptops, and there were many families and couples, so I thought it suits all ages. It wasn't noisy, just pleasantly lively, which made it even more relaxing.

How were the coffee and bread at Chat Baker?
I ordered coffee and bakery items. The coffee wasn't strongly acidic, and the bread was crisp outside, moist inside, with a rich butter aroma. The coffee was the kind anyone can drink without fuss, and it went well with the bread.
Above all, the bread really satisfied me. It wasn't too sweet either, which made it perfect with coffee. Many bakery cafés only have the atmosphere going for them, but Chat Baker's bread itself is well made, and it made me want to come back. It felt like it was baked right in the shop, so it tasted even fresher.
Where are the best photo spots at Chat Baker?
The window seats and the area in front of the bread display were the best for photos. At the window, the natural light let me take lovely portraits too.
Wherever you point the camera, the space has a nice mood, and the interior is clean without being over the top, so food photos came out well too. There were plenty of photo spots for social media, and lots of people were taking pictures. The bread display in particular is so appetizingly arranged that it's hard to walk past without taking a photo.
Why Chat Baker works as an Anseong drive stop
Chat Baker is a good place to take a break during an Anseong drive and enjoy bread and coffee. It gets lots of visitors on weekends, so I recommend allowing some extra time. There are more atmospheric cafés in Anseong than you might expect, but Chat Baker stuck in my memory as one I'd want to revisit.
It was a lovely, relaxed time with tasty bakery items and coffee. It's good for a date and also comfortable to bring your parents, so I think it would satisfy whoever you come with.
