Gimhae café for decaf americano and Dubai cream salt bread: Yu Yu Yu

Gimhae's feel-good café Yu Yu Yu is a huge bakery café — the bread selection is unreal?!

With the reverent spirit of welcoming the holiday, I self-decided to start it a day early. Met up with friends at the good-vibes Gimhae café Yu Yu Yu and had a lovely time.

I'd seen neighbors post about visiting and wanted to check it out myself, so we found a spot roughly halfway between us — turns out it worked out great. (I didn't know exactly where it was and my place ended up being the farthest. But I picked it anyway.)

Maybe because of the holiday, the sky looked really pretty. The location wasn't quite the Gimhae I had in mind, but there were tons of restaurants and cafés around, lots of people, and it seemed like a spot known for its views in Gimhae.

The parking lot was spacious, and there was both the main building and a pet-friendly annex. So pretty. My mood lifted the second we arrived.

Here's the menu at Yu Yu Yu, a bakery café in Gimhae. Prices range from ₩5,000 for americano up to about ₩8,500 for sweet potato latte.

For a huge bakery café with a great view, the drink prices are pretty reasonable.

Yu Yu Yu review event: how to get 9 cookies

Yu Yu Yu, the big bakery café in Gimhae, is also running a review event — write a Naver review for +3 cookies, follow their Instagram for +3 cookies, upload a hashtag post for +3 cookies, for 9 cookies total. And it's per person! That's about ₩5,000 worth of cookies each.

How much bread does Yu Yu Yu actually bake?

Let's take a look at the bakery lineup at Yu Yu Yu in Gimhae.

I visited after weekday lunch, so quite a few trays were empty. But there were still so many kinds that the choices were plenty. Various croissants.

Financiers, tigre.

Salt bread, hot dogs.

Egg tarts, cakes, sandwiches. With such a wide variety of bread, I get why this place is famous among people looking for a Gimhae bakery. Seeing so many empty trays after weekday lunch — it's clearly a real Gimhae bread hotspot, right?

What we ordered at Yu Yu Yu

At Yu Yu Yu, a great coffee spot in Gimhae, my friends and I ordered iced americano (decaf), the U latte, Dubai salt bread, and egg tart. I'd heard the U latte and bakery items were amazing, so my expectations were high.

The self-serve bar at Yu Yu Yu

A clean self-serve bar with a touch of Mengu (a Shin-chan-style character) thrown in for extra cuteness. Mengu at a feel-good café — never thought of that combo, but it was so cute and fit perfectly. Whoever the interior designers are, their sense is on another level, honestly want to steal it.

There's a variety of seating — 4-person, 8-person, up to 14-person tables — and the interior is spacious, so

if you're looking for a Gimhae café for gatherings, coffee meetups, dates, or a Chuseok family outing, Yu Yu Yu might be worth considering.

Whether it was the nice weather, starting my self-declared holiday a day early, or just how pretty Yu Yu Yu is, my mood was great that day.

Going down to the first floor and back up, the sky visible each time was so pretty I kept gasping every time I went up or down the stairs. A person made happy by a pretty sky.

There were little Mengu details tucked around too, haha. My friend happens to love the white character, so she'd hung one on her bag — Friend 1: 'What if we leave the black one behind.' Friend 2: 'What if we bring Mengu along instead.' My friends are hilarious,,, ♥︎ love them.

Where is the pet-friendly annex at Yu Yu Yu?

Yu Yu Yu recently got a new annex. Just a while ago when a friend visited it was still under construction, but it's finished now.

The first floor is dog-friendly, and the second floor opens only on weekends. Right from the entrance there were traces of dogs having been there, and it was so cute.

and charming outdoor seating too. I love that you can bring your pet along, and even though I'm a dog-less human, it's nice just to see dogs around. There was even a gangaji (dog) dressed in hanbok for Chuseok — so pretty and cute, haha.

Dubai cream salt bread, 7,500 won

The 'du-jjon-ku' (Dubai chocolate craze) may have faded from history, but the Dubai-style series is still popular. This was my first time trying salt bread with a Dubai twist — Yu Yu Yu's Dubai cream salt bread keeps the plain, savory taste of the salt bread itself while adding a generous amount of real pistachio and crispy kataifi texture, giving it great depth of flavor.

And on top of that, the chocolate spread,,, it would honestly be a foul if that wasn't delicious. Some places cut corners there, but Yu Yu Yu in Gimhae plays it fair and square.

I eat plain salt bread often, but trying this special version felt fresh and delicious. If you're looking for a Gimhae bakery with something special on the menu, I recommend the Dubai salt bread at Yu Yu Yu!

Egg tart, one of my favorite pastries, was also on the list ♥︎ Egg tart's crispy pastry and soft filling pair so well with coffee, right? Americano + egg tart = a combo I love.

Decaf americano and the signature U latte

For those of us coffee lovers who can't handle caffeine in the afternoon, decaf americano is love ♥︎ If you're caffeine-sensitive, definitely check whether a Gimhae coffee spot offers decaf.

I personally think nothing beats americano to go with dessert, but the friend who ordered the signature U latte took one sip and went 'Mmmm~~~~~ so good ♥︎' — I could tell how tasty it was without even trying it, haha. I heard this place is ranked the #1 vanilla latte café in Gimhae, so next time I have to try the signature U latte for myself.

The photo zone and the view at Yu Yu Yu (UUU)

Just as we were about to head home, the green outside looked so pretty. Without anyone even saying it first, we shouted 'Let's go look!!!' and turned straight around, haha. There was this adorable photo zone waiting there. Great idea.

Took a photo in my recently bought, on-trend outfit. Spent good time with people I love in a lovely place, and headed home happy.
