Eulji Darak Apgujeong Dosan Park is a pasta and Western brunch restaurant on the 2nd floor near Dosan Park, about 9 minutes on foot from Apgujeongnodeo Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Before a studio shoot, the writer and a friend arrived for Wednesday opening, found a line 10 minutes early, and ordered the Darak rose pasta (₩18,000), chopped pork neck steak (₩22,000) and katsu sando (₩12,000); the meat quality was the biggest surprise. Eulji Darak is more than a pretty room: it is an Apgujeong pasta restaurant with solid fundamentals.

The writer went with a friend for daytime drinks around 4:30 pm on a Friday and ordered soju with kkotdoritang (crab and chicken stew), yuksaejeon (beef and shrimp jeon) and muksabal (chilled acorn jelly soup). The writer especially liked the crab-and-chicken broth and the yuksaejeon dipping sauce. Verdict: with hearty Korean drinking food, Yeonnam Jumak 1987 is a good Yeonnam-dong pub for soju with a friend.

With a wood-toned interior and a well-balanced set, Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang is a solid pick for a date-night dinner in Sindang.

Hyehwa katsu restaurant: cold soba and melon soda at Maison Akai
