I went to Jangyu Yulha, one of the parts of Gimhae where new great eateries seem to be opening the most lately. I was craving a hearty pot of gamjatang (pork bone soup), so today I visited Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch (뼈대있는해장국감자탕 율하점), haha.

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang is open daily from 08:00 to 22:00, with no regular closing days or break time. There is free parking in front of and behind the restaurant, and reservations, group visits, delivery, and takeaway are available. The restrooms are separate for men and women, and both the entrance and seating are wheelchair accessible.
The spacious, pleasant Yulha Branch dining room

Maybe because it is a newly opened branch, the interior felt pleasant at a glance. The dining room was much bigger than I expected, and the tables were large too. With plenty of space between seats, it felt even more open and nice, haha.
There were lots of four-person tables, each with table ordering, so ordering was convenient. I also thought it would be a really good place to visit as a group!

The basic spread with pyeonyuk and spicy marinated crab

The Daega Hansang set's star supporting players—house-made pyeonyuk (pressed sliced pork) and addictively spicy marinated crab—arrived too. This... the whole spread is such good value. You absolutely have to get the Daega Hansang set!!

Its name even says bitter-spicy marinated crab, so if you like heat, this is the kind of marinated crab you will go back for twice, guaranteed 👍 Honestly, if there had been less gamjatang, I think I would have ordered more!!!
A self bar with unlimited free refills, from glass noodles to joraengi-tteok

This place has an amazing draw: unlimited refills of add-ins and broth.

At Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch, glass noodles, sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes), joraengi-tteok (little cocoon-shaped rice cakes), potatoes, ramen noodles, and broth are all free for unlimited refills. You know other places would charge around ₩1,000 to ₩2,000 for every one of those items.
We were curious, so we took a little of everything. They had joraengi-tteok, which you do not often see elsewhere, so we tried it too—and oh my, what a gem. Soft and chewy, it really does its job as an add-in. Recommended!

There was also a complimentary slush machine right beside the self bar. I think they set it up because there are many family groups and lots of students in Yulha! It felt like they had really considered their guests, so I was impressed by the thoughtful touch—such a heartwarming point.
A huge gamjatang pot that surprised us for two people
It comes with mushroom add-ins as standard, and do not be shocked when it arrives. This is the two-person gamjatang.

Can you see the size of that meat? I mean, what is this... exaggerating just a tiny bit, it was as big as my torso... The bones were absolutely loaded with meat. Dip it generously in the special sauce that comes with it for an even tastier bite.

When it first arrives, enjoy the broth for its clean, light flavor; as it keeps simmering at the table, it gets deeper and deeper. Overall, the broth had no off smell at all—just a clean, deep, savory soup flavor, haha.

As a total potato killer, I really loved that the self bar had potatoes. As a root-vegetable lover, I was once again touched by those unlimited add-ins... There are potatoes in the basic gamjatang too!

I wanted to enjoy the meat and add-ins together, so the moment there was room in the gamjatang, I dropped all kinds of add-ins in next to the meat!
Gondeure egg rice pot from the review event
How cute is a nicely cooked gondeure (Korean thistle) rice pot topped with a pretty fried egg? Haha.

There was a generous amount of gondeure, and the rice was sticky and really delicious. They are running a review event where you can receive the gondeure egg rice pot, so I recommend doing it once and trying the rice pot. Mix it all up nicely with the seasoned sauce they give you.
Koreans' post-meal favorite: DIY fried rice
Time for Koreans' favorite post-meal fried rice. This is how it comes out when you order it.

Fried rice has to be spread out nice and thin to taste its best, you know. Slurp... Looking at it makes me want to eat it again.
This is a Gimhae Yulha restaurant where you can feel the owner's care for guests in so many ways, so I can understand why it received a Blue Ribbon.

Next time, bring on the grilled pork bone with Korean beef intestines.
