In short
Luonto Sutonggol Branch is a large three-floor roastery café at the entrance to Sutonggol valley in Yuseong, Daejeon. After a naengmyeon (cold noodle) lunch, the writer's family compared a nutty Luonto Blending Americano with an acidic Geisha Blending Americano, alongside a café latte, a vanilla latte, a cocoa chocolate chip cookie and a macadamia cookie. For a weekend outing, I went with my family to Yuseong-gu, Daejeon for lunch. After filling up on cool cold noodles at Gapdong Sutgol Naengmyeon, I got a craving for coffee, so we headed to Luonto Sutonggol Branch, a place well known for its beans.
Located at the entrance to Sutonggol valley, Luonto Sutonggol Branch is a large Daejeon café famous as a chimney bread spot and an outdoor dome café in Yuseong-gu. You can enjoy coffee roasted by a roaster with 15 years of experience, making it a great place for a relaxed tea time after a meal. The spacious parking lot was also a huge plus for visiting comfortably as a family.

Where is Luonto at Sutonggol, and is parking easy for families?

The café's exterior, notable alongside its wide parking area
Luonto's three floors: seating and atmosphere
Luonto Sutonggol Branch is decorated with spacious, modern interiors from the first to third floors, so there's no worry about seating even for family gatherings or group visits. The second floor has sofa-style seating and floor-to-ceiling windows for great light, while the third floor connects to an outdoor terrace and fountain, offering a different mood each season.

Luonto menu: choose nutty, acidic or decaf beans
Luonto Sutonggol Branch's coffee menu lets you choose your beans between nutty, acidic, or decaf. The checkmarks in the menu photos are what we ordered this time, and there's a notice asking for one menu item per person.

The coffee and dessert spread we shared as a family

Luonto Blending (nutty) vs. Geisha Blending (acidic) Americano
I was impressed that when ordering the Americano, you can specify nutty, acidic, or decaf beans. The Luonto Blending (nutty) had more of a savory flavor than bitterness, with a smooth finish going down.

The Geisha Blending (acidic) had a subtle tangy fruit aroma, making it fun to compare the two side by side. True to being freshly roasted in-house, the aroma seemed to linger longer.

Café latte, vanilla latte and two handmade cookies
The café latte had a stable ratio of milk to espresso, making it comfortable to drink, and the vanilla latte's vanilla flavor wasn't overpowering, so even the kids could drink it without any issue.

We also paired our drinks with two handmade cookies, crispy outside and moist inside. The cocoa chocolate chip cookie had a rich cocoa flavor with a nice bite of chocolate chips, and the macadamia cookie kept the nutty texture of the nuts alive, making it a great dessert to pair with coffee.

Outdoor dome shelters and the fountain terrace
Next time at Luonto: chimney bread
As Luonto Sutonggol Branch is also well known as an outdoor dome café in Yuseong-gu, the terrace with its outdoor fountain and dome shelters made a strong impression. The dome shelter seating gives off camping vibes, so once the weather cools down, it seems like a great spot to spend time outdoors. This time we focused on coffee and cookies, but true to its reputation as a chimney bread spot in Yuseong-gu, I'd love to try the freshly baked chimney bread on my next visit.
Is Luonto Sutonggol worth a visit?
This visit made it clear why Luonto is known as a chimney bread spot and a large tree café in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. From coffee where you can choose your own beans to handmade cookies, the menu had real attention to detail, and with its spacious space plus outdoor dome and fountain, it made for a perfect family outing. It's a great spot to stop after a Sutonggol walk or hike, and once the seasons change, I'd like to come back to enjoy the chimney bread together with the outdoor seats.
An afternoon when the sound of the fountain overlapped with the smell of coffee, and Sutonggol's summer quietly drifted by.
