Chuseok date night omakase in Pangyo: grilled veggie salad at Kkweda

In short

Kkweda Pangyo Avenue France Branch is a borderless fusion omakase restaurant on the 1st floor of Avenue France near Pangyo Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, reworking dishes from many countries for Korean tastes. On the last weekend of the Chuseok holiday, the writer and her husband sat at the bar for the Summer Stamina dinner course, added a hanwoo++ cheese burger, and swapped the required drink for the non-alcoholic Kkweda kombucha and Kkweda mojito. The chodang corn custard and grilled vegetable salad stood out, and the light, refreshing summer course makes Kkweda worth considering for an anniversary date in Pangyo.

What kind of omakase is Kkweda in Pangyo?

Kkweda is a nationless fusion omakase dining spot in Pangyo Avenue France, where dishes inspired by cuisines from many countries are reinterpreted for Korean palates in a course format. I went on a weekend date with my husband to wrap up Chuseok. Haha. This time I wanted to have a bit more of a special course meal than usual, so I picked Kkweda!

What's fun about Kkweda is that the course menu changes every 3–4 months, so you can taste different dishes depending on when you visit.

Since it was a day I wanted a slightly more special dinner instead of just a regular meal, I thought Kkweda would be a good option for an anniversary or date in Pangyo. :)

Where is Kkweda Pangyo Avenue France Branch, and where to park?

Kkweda Pangyo Avenue France Branch is 381m from Exit 1 of Pangyo Station, about a 5-minute walk. The address is 1st floor, Unit 143, Pangyo Hoban Summit Place, 25 Dongpangyo-ro 177beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, so it's easy to reach by public transit. It's also close to Hyundai Department Store Pangyo, making it a good stop after shopping or a date in Pangyo.

For parking, you can use the Pangyo Avenue France underground parking lot. Since Kkweda is on the 1st floor of Avenue France, it's also convenient to visit by car.

Kkweda seating and atmosphere: good for a date?

Walking into Kkweda, the first thing you see is the open bar table, where you can watch the chef cooking up close — great for getting the full omakase feel.

We sat at the bar table too, and each seat had tableware and the course menu already set up. The overall vibe was bright and clean, which felt good for a date or anniversary meal. There was also a separate private room inside, which can fit anywhere from 1 to 10 people.

Lineup of dishes from Kkweda's Summer Stamina dinner course

Ordering Kkweda's dinner course and the one-drink-per-person rule

We had Kkweda's Summer Stamina course for dinner and added one hanwoo++ cheese burger. Kkweda's dinner requires one alcoholic drink order per person, but you can swap it for a non-alcoholic drink.

There was a good variety of alcohol, like highballs and wine. We each picked a non-alcoholic drink instead — Kkweda kombucha and Kkweda mojito. Being able to swap in a non-alcoholic drink meant we could enjoy the course without any pressure to drink.

Non-alcoholic drinks: Kkweda kombucha and Kkweda mojito

Kkweda's non-alcoholic kombucha and mojito

The Kkweda kombucha had a distinctly tangy acidity — refreshing with that fizzy bite typical of fermented drinks, kind of a palate reset. The Kkweda mojito had a subtle, cooling mint aroma that made it feel crisp and light overall.

How does each dish in Kkweda's Summer Stamina course taste?

Watermelon gazpacho

Watermelon gazpacho, the first dish of Kkweda's course

The first dish of Kkweda's Summer Stamina course was watermelon gazpacho. It came with squid, oxalis, and Korean melon, and from the first bite it had a refreshing, citrusy flavor.

The clean sweetness of the watermelon and Korean melon combined with a tangy note, making the whole thing feel light and clean.

Grilled vegetable salad

Kkweda's grilled vegetable salad is grilled zucchini, carrot, and apple served with prosciutto and almonds. Honestly, I didn't expect much at first, but it was so much better than I thought — I scraped the plate clean. Lol. Grilling the vegetables and fruit really brought out their natural sweetness.

Pairing it with the prosciutto added a salty note to the mild vegetable flavors that worked really well, and the almonds gave a nutty crunch throughout. Even though it's a vegetable-forward dish, each ingredient's flavor came through clearly — it's one I'd want to eat again.

Chodang corn custard

Kkweda's choda corn custard

Kkweda's choda corn custard (a sweet Korean corn variety) came with choda corn, scallop, and shallot. I expected a sweet, smooth flavor because of the word 'custard,' but it turned out surprisingly tangy. Lol.

The sweet flavor of the corn combined with the chewy texture of the scallop, and the tangy custard tied everything together — I kept going back for more. Both my husband and I agreed this was the best dish of the whole course. Lol.

Charcoal-grilled Iberico pork

Kkweda's charcoal-grilled Iberico pork shoulder

Kkweda's charcoal-grilled Iberico pork is Iberico pork shoulder grilled over charcoal, served with chimichurri sauce and cheese potatoes. As soon as it hit my mouth, I could taste that subtle smoky char. The meat itself was fairly mild, but the chimichurri sauce added a salty, bright note that made it much more flavorful!

The cheese potatoes served alongside were also delicious. The fluffy texture of the potato combined with the savory cheese paired really well with the Iberico pork.

Sea bass karaage

Kkweda's sea bass karaage (Japanese-style fried fish) came with yuzu ponzu, radish, and green onion. The yuzu ponzu had grated radish and green onion mixed in, giving it a bright, clean flavor.

Crispy-outside, tender-inside sea bass karaage

The sea bass was fried crispy on the outside and stayed really moist and tender inside — properly crispy-outside, juicy-inside. Haha. It came out piping hot, which made it even better, and the mild fish flesh went well dipped in the yuzu ponzu.

Best of all, there were no bones to worry about in the sea bass karaage, which made it easy to eat.

Add-on: hanwoo++ cheese burger

Kkweda's add-on hanwoo++ cheese burger

We added a hanwoo++ cheese burger to Kkweda's course. My husband loves cheeseburgers! Lol. The freshly grilled hanwoo patty was juicy from the first bite, and the salty cheese added a rich depth of flavor.

Mini hanwoo++ cheese burger served cut in half

The hanwoo++ cheese burger was mini-sized, so adding it on didn't feel like too much, and it came already cut in half, which was great for sharing with my husband.

Eel donburi (eel rice bowl)

Kkweda's eel donburi (rice bowl) came with pickled Korean melon, burdock root, and wasabi.

We got to watch the eel being grilled over charcoal in person, and the delicious smell wafting over made me even hungrier. Haha.

The eel was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and there were almost no bones to worry about, so it was easy to eat! It had a salty, deep flavor that felt genuinely luxurious.

Doenjang soup served with the eel donburi

We also had a sip of the warm doenjang (soybean paste) soup that came with it. Haha.

Pickled Korean melon served with the eel donburi

This was my first time trying pickled Korean melon, and it was surprisingly nice how the fruit's sweetness paired with the salty seasoning. Lol.

Neungi mushroom duck soup

Kkweda's neungi mushroom duck soup came with neungi mushrooms, duck, and noodles. Based on the name alone, I expected something as rich as a whole boiled duck dish, but it was much lighter and more refreshing than I thought. Haha.

The broth had a subtle tanginess, so even this late in the course it didn't feel heavy, and I kept scooping up more of the broth.

Neungi mushroom duck soup with sous vide duck

Instead of being boiled down like a whole duck dish, the duck was cooked sous vide, keeping its tender texture — that was another surprise. The subtle aroma of the neungi mushrooms blended in nicely, and with the noodles included, it made a satisfying, not-too-heavy finishing dish.

Yogurt sorbet

The final dessert of Kkweda's course was yogurt sorbet. The tangy yogurt ice cream was topped with berry jam, served alongside a sweet, crunchy cookie. The refreshing yogurt, the sweet-tart berry jam, and the crunchy texture came together for a great finish. Haha.

From the watermelon gazpacho to the choda corn to the yuzu ponzu, light and refreshing flavors ran through the whole course, and finishing with dessert made it feel like a course that really captured the essence of summer.

Is Kkweda a good anniversary date spot in Pangyo?

Kkweda's Summer Stamina course didn't lean into just one genre — it let us enjoy a range of ingredients and cooking methods, so I found myself curious about the next dish the whole time. Haha. Since the course changes every 3–4 months, I'm curious what the next season's menu will be, and I'd love to come back.

If you're looking for a course meal with a good atmosphere for a date or a slightly special anniversary meal in Pangyo, Kkweda is worth keeping in mind. We went as our own Chuseok weekend wrap-up date, and ended up having a great time slowly enjoying delicious food to close out the weekend. Haha.
