Seongsu has so many restaurants with great atmosphere, but finding one that nails both the food and the mood is harder than you'd think. This time I went to Log Seongsu (로그성수), which has a good reputation in the neighborhood. It was my second visit, and I was very happy both times.
Where is Log Seongsu, and what are its opening hours?
Log Seongsu is at 36 Seoulsup 2-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the basement level, and it is open from 12:00 to 23:30. Break time is 15:30-17:00, and it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The restaurant is in a basement. It's close to Seoulsup, so it's nice for a walk after your meal, and with its calm interior it seemed to be a popular Seongsu date spot. It's a cozy bistro where you can eat comfortably, and I could feel the care that went into every dish.

What's the atmosphere at Log Seongsu? Good for dates or groups?
The restaurant has a calm mood, with soft lighting and a black-toned interior. The tables are spaced well and there are rooms too, so it works for a date or a get-together with friends.
When I walked in, the soft lighting and black-toned interior created a calm atmosphere. It feels relaxed rather than flashy, so it's great for staying a while and talking, and the tables are spaced just right, so it's easy for a date or a meal with friends.

There are rooms too, so it would be good for a Seongsu group gathering as well~

I picked a spot and sat down too, haha.

In winter you can hang your heavy coat over here, haha.

The tableware that was already set out was neat and clean too~

What did we order at Log Seongsu?
On this visit to Log Seongsu, I ordered the ikura seaweed carbonara and the piri piri chicken. The two dishes went together better than I expected, and I kept thinking how satisfied I was as we ate.

How does the ikura seaweed carbonara taste?
Log Seongsu's ikura seaweed carbonara (이쿠라 김 까르보나라) is a cream sauce pasta topped with seaweed and ikura (salmon roe). It came out first, and I was curious about it because the name alone is so unusual. Unlike a regular carbonara, it's topped with seaweed and ikura, so it caught my eye right away.

I liked the look of it first of all, and then the savory cream sauce gets the salty flavor of the seaweed, and the ikura pops and adds a rich umami, so it has a different kind of charm.
Doesn't it look delicious! When they said this was a carbonara I was doubtful at first, but the more I ate, the more I liked it, haha.
Mix it up well~~

The cream sauce isn't too heavy, so I could finish it without feeling weighed down, and the noodles were cooked just right with a nice texture. If you usually like cream pasta, I think it's worth trying at least once. It's a totally different feeling!☺️

Why the pickles at Log Seongsu stuck with me
What I personally liked most at Log Seongsu was the pickles. Pickles usually don't leave much of an impression, but the ones here have a good balance of sweet and sour, so I kept reaching for them.
Eating a bite between pasta forkfuls cleaned up my mouth, and they went well with the piri piri chicken that came afterward too. It's a small thing, but details like this made the meal even more satisfying.

How spicy is the piri piri chicken?
Log Seongsu's piri piri chicken (피리피리치킨) is crispy on the outside and juicy inside, served on a bed of french fries. The spiciness is mild, so it wasn't harsh.
Here comes the piri piri chicken! The look of it was really satisfying. The outside is cooked crispy while the inside stays moist and juicy, and there are fries spread underneath.

With its gentle kick, it wasn't aggressive but still had that flavor you keep reaching for. Eaten with the pasta, it cut the richness and the combination was really good. The portion was also about right for two people sharing, and it's a dish that works well as a meal.
Squeeze some lemon on it and eat🍋
Why I recommend Log Seongsu for a Seoulsup date
I visited Log Seongsu as a Seoulsup date restaurant, and the plating was neat overall and the ingredients felt fresh. Every dish has its own character without being overwhelming, so I think anyone you bring would be satisfied!
Seongsu has plenty of great pasta places, but Log Seongsu's original menu made it stand out even more. It's not only the food: the lighting is neither too dark nor too bright so you can eat comfortably, and the music plays at a decent volume, which is good for conversation.
I think it suits not just a date but also a relaxed meal with friends you haven't seen in a while❤️
