My first cut in 10 months: why a high layered cut at Uaroom

I went to Uaroom, a hair salon in Maetan-dong, Suwon, for a high layered cut. It had been almost 10 months since my last cut, so my hair had gotten really thick, and I was honestly sick of keeping it long and straight. I searched near home, found Soi, the head designer at Uaroom who is known for layered cuts, and booked ahead.

Uaroom location, parking and opening hours

Uaroom is about a 2-minute walk down the alley from Suwon Nambu Fire Station, and about 5 minutes on foot from Maetangwonseon Station. It opens at 10 a.m. every day and closes at 7 p.m. on weekends and 8 p.m. on weekdays. There's parking on the 1st floor of the building too, so good to know!!!

Uaroom is on the 2nd floor, and I liked that the space is quite big and has big windows. There seemed to be around 5 stylists. I'd read lots of Naver reviews before going, and the salon seems famous for doing everything well, from cuts to perms.

Uaroom cut prices and service prices

A cut at Uaroom starts at ₩27,500, and shampoo is extra at ₩16,500. I washed my hair beforehand, so I only had the cut. These days cuts run in the high ₩30,000s or even over ₩40,000, so a cut under ₩30,000 without shampoo seemed pretty good.

Wavy-ish long hair: the high layered cut process with head designer Soi

This is my hair, straightened and then grown out for ages. Seeing the shot from behind, I realized how long I'd let it get. I was bored of the same look, so I decided to try a layered cut... Honestly I was a little scared, because my hair has some wave and a bad cut makes it frizzy.

Soi, the head designer at Uaroom, talked it through with me, asking what style I wanted and how I usually wear my hair, so I could manage it myself. I think that's why I'm even more satisfied with the result!!! She was also really meticulous with the cutting.

They teach you flat iron and roll brush styling too

After the cut, Soi explained in great detail how to style with a flat iron. I even practiced using a roll brush on my own, hahahaha. There's no way it would turn out like when the designer does it, but I'm going to try my best!!! I even ordered a thick roll brush on Coupang to match hers,,,

A layered cut that doesn't fall apart when tied up

She barely cut the length, more of a trim. I have to tie my hair up for work, so I asked for something that wouldn't be too annoying when tied, and I think she cut it to fit that. I once had a layered cut gone wrong, with too many layers and too much thinning, and when I tied it up everything slipped out and got frizzy. Bad memories T_T

How did the Uaroom high layered cut turn out?

I liked how the layers in this Uaroom cut connect naturally, and it changed my look without a perm, which was great. She explained how to care for it in detail, so from now on I'm settling on Uaroom, the Maetan-dong hair salon, for all my cuts!!!

I got a change of mood from my boring old hairstyle with the high layered cut, and I properly learned how to style it from Soi, so I'm super happy!!! It's been a while since I liked a cut this much. The one-on-one consultation and the custom design in a comfortable atmosphere raised my satisfaction even more.
