Yeosu café on Tongjeyeong-gil: three drinks compared at Avocado Yeosu

Looking for something a little different in downtown Yeosu, I ended up at Avocado Yeosu. As the name suggests, it's an avocado-specialty café serving drinks and desserts made with avocado — the menu was surprisingly varied, with avocado smoothie, avocado coffee, avocado ice cream, and even avocado banh mi.

We ordered three drinks that day: avocado smoothie (₩7,500), Bac Xiu condensed milk latte (₩6,500), and americano (₩4,200), and tried them all :)

Where is Avocado Yeosu?

Avocado Yeosu is located at 6 Tongjeyeong 4-gil, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do. It's a decent stop while exploring downtown Yeosu, and since it's newly opened, everything felt clean and fresh.

More than anything, the café's name itself — "avocado" — got me curious about the menu the moment I saw it.

I've seen cafés with one avocado item on the menu before, but this place goes all in as a dedicated avocado specialty spot, which felt refreshing. They said they use only fresh fruit avocado, not frozen, which made me look forward to it even more.

First visit? Start with the avocado smoothie

The menu I was most curious about at Avocado Yeosu was, of course, the avocado smoothie (₩7,500)! I like avocado but rarely have it as a smoothie, so I was curious what it would taste like.

The first sip was much smoother and creamier than I expected. You could taste avocado's signature nutty, rich flavor, but it wasn't heavy to drink at all. I thought avocado might taste a bit greasy or bland, but it actually had just the right amount of sweetness added, making it much easier to drink.

The texture was also pretty thick, closer to a smooth shake than a regular juice. If you like avocado, you'll obviously love it, and even people who aren't usually into avocado might find it worth trying once.

How does the Bac Xiu condensed milk latte taste?

The second order was Bac Xiu condensed milk latte (₩6,500). This one had an unfamiliar name too, but simply put, think of it as a Vietnamese-style condensed milk latte.

Rather than coffee's bitterness, the soft, sweet flavor of condensed milk and milk was more central to this drink. It was definitely sweeter than a regular café latte, but the condensed milk flavor wasn't overpowering either — the balance with the coffee worked well.

If the avocado smoothie was nutty and rich, Bac Xiu felt like a sweet, soft dessert coffee! If you already like condensed milk lattes or Vietnamese coffee, this will suit you well. I personally ordered it without much expectation since the name was unfamiliar, but it turned out tastier than I thought and stuck in my memory.

The americano, the basic order

Third was the americano (₩4,200). Since both the avocado smoothie and Bac Xiu are somewhat sweet drinks, I wanted a clean coffee to drink alongside them.

An americano was perfect for this kind of combo. After sipping something sweet and smooth, one sip of americano cleanly reset the palate! Even if someone in your group isn't into avocado or sweet drinks, classic coffee options like americano and café latte are on the menu, so it's easy to visit together.

Which of the three drinks to pick

After trying all three at Avocado Yeosu, it was easy to pick based on preference.

• If you came to an avocado specialty spot and want the signature item → avocado smoothie
• If you like sweet, smooth coffee → Bac Xiu condensed milk latte
• If you prefer clean, familiar coffee → americano

Personally, if it's your first visit, I'd recommend trying the avocado smoothie at least once. It's a menu item you don't easily find at other cafés, and it let me experience the nutty, creamy flavor of fresh avocado as a drink — it felt like the most distinct part of Avocado Yeosu's identity.

Next time: the avocado banh mi

While ordering drinks, the avocado banh mi caught my eye on the menu. Apparently it's crispy Vietnamese-style banh mi bread filled with beef bulgogi, vegetables, and avocado slices, with cilantro optional.

The avocado and beef bulgogi combo sounds better than I'd have guessed, so I'd like to try it next time. There's also avocado ice cream and avocado coffee, so it could be fun to order one of each and share if you're visiting with a group.

Looking for a different café in Yeosu?

What made Avocado Yeosu interesting wasn't just being a place to grab a coffee, but a spot where you can enjoy avocado in many different forms. I especially liked that they use fresh fruit avocado instead of frozen, and drinking the smoothie really let the creamy, nutty appeal of avocado come through.

If you're a bit tired of typical café menus or want to try something new in Yeosu, this place is worth stopping by. Like us, I'd recommend ordering one avocado smoothie and one Bac Xiu condensed milk latte to compare two completely different styles of drinks :)
