What kind of pork cutlet did we have with family in Sanbon?

I stopped by Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch while running an errand in Sanbon and had a family meal there. It is a place for old-school Korean-style pork cutlets with thick, generously sized meat.

There was a freestanding menu sign in front of the restaurant, so I could check the menu before going in.

What were the atmosphere and seating like?

In the middle of the restaurant, there was a notice saying that it uses domestic Dodram Korean pork, fries items to order, and makes its sauces in-house.

Overall, it had a casual atmosphere. I especially liked the chairs with space to store bags.

How do the menu and self-service bar work?

Along with the Korean-style pork cutlet and spicy pork cutlet, there were cheddar cheese pork cutlet and Onjeong curry pork cutlet. There were also sets pairing pork cutlet with udon or buckwheat noodles, as well as fried tofu fish cake udon and green tangerine cold buckwheat soba.

I ordered at the kiosk, then helped myself to warm rice and side dishes.

A notice said the self-service bar is for customers ordering one item per person, with infants and similar guests excluded from that requirement. At the time of my visit, another notice said that participating in a photo-review event came with one canned drink.

The self-service bar was kept tidy. It had thinly shredded cabbage, danmuji (yellow pickled radish), kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and rice.

How were the Korean-style and spicy pork cutlets?

We ordered Korean-style pork cutlet, Onjeong spicy pork cutlet, and fried tofu fish cake udon.

I liked the Korean-style pork cutlet because the portion was generous. It came with a dinner roll and strawberry jam, and the mushroom soup also suited my taste.

The Onjeong spicy pork cutlet was good to alternate with the regular Korean-style pork cutlet. The added heat kept me reaching for it.

The green-tangerine-based salad also left an impression. It felt well balanced with the pork cutlet.

How were the udon and sides we had with a child?

The fried tofu fish cake udon we ordered for our child was tasty, with a rich fish cake flavor.

The mushroom soup was rich and thick enough that I wanted another bowl.

Pork cutlet can start to feel rich as you eat it, but the spicy pork cutlet countered that feeling. I am not especially good with spicy food, so I ate it with the salad and corn.

We finished everything, including the sauce. The food stayed true to the basics, the portions were generous, and the staff were kind, making it an enjoyable weekend family meal.

The restaurant is at 5-11 Sanbon-ro 386beon-gil, Samdae Building, 1F Room 103, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It was easy to find because it is on the corner directly across from Gwangjeong Elementary School.

According to the information listed when the original post was written, it was open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 21:00, with last orders at 20:00. It was closed on Mondays, had no break time, and was listed as closing when ingredients ran out.

It was also listed as offering takeout, delivery, and reservations, with high chairs and a waiting area. Pets are not allowed. We parked at the nearby Haengbok 1 Public Parking Lot.
