Pork cutlet restaurant in Gunpo with a spicy soba set

I visited Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch (온정경양식당 산본학원가점), which I found while passing near the Sanbon academy district. It serves old-style Korean pork cutlets, and I ordered the old-style pork cutlet and the spicy pork cutlet and buckwheat noodle set.

How far is it from Sanbon Station, and when is it open?

The restaurant is in Unit 103 on the first floor of Samdae Building, 5-11 Sanbon-ro 386beon-gil, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do. It is about a 15-minute walk from Exit 3 of Sanbon Station.

The hours posted at the time of my visit were 11:00–21:00 from Tuesday through Sunday. Last orders are at 20:00, and it is regularly closed on Mondays.

How were the pork cutlet meat and coating?

A sign in the restaurant said it uses a continuous fryer to keep the oil clean. When I ate there, the coating stayed similarly crisp from the first piece to the last.

The restaurant stated that it uses only Korean pork prepared fresh daily. Both types I ordered had relatively thin meat, cooked tender inside.

What are the menu options and prices?

Besides the old-style pork cutlet, there were cheddar cheese pork cutlet and curry pork cutlet. I could also choose a set with udon or buckwheat noodles. The old-style pork cutlet I ordered was ₩13,000, while the spicy pork cutlet and buckwheat noodle set was ₩14,500.

How much comes with the old-style pork cutlet?

The old-style pork cutlet came with two large whole cutlets. The crisp coating and tender meat went well together, and I also liked the brown sauce served with it.

How spicy is the spicy pork cutlet set?

The spicy pork cutlet and buckwheat noodle set was filling, with one large pork cutlet and buckwheat noodles. The sauce began sweet, then gradually made my mouth hotter. It reminded me of Buldak 볶음면 (spicy stir-fried noodles), and I felt it would be spicy for children.

The buckwheat noodle broth was said to use Korean green tangerines. Its cool broth had a refreshing citrus aroma, so alternating it with the spicy pork cutlet cleared my palate.

What comes with the meal and at the self-service bar?

The mushroom cream soup served alongside the meal was memorable for its rich, nutty flavor. It went well with the pork cutlet.

Corn, green tangerine salad, and soft morning rolls also came with the meal. There were side dishes to eat between bites of pork cutlet.

At the self-service bar, I could freely refill rice, side dishes, and water. I was able to take more as needed during the meal, which made for a filling meal.

Can I bring children or order takeout?

There were high chairs and a waiting area inside. I thought these would be useful when visiting with children. However, it would be wise to consider the spice level before ordering the spicy pork cutlet for a child.

The restaurant indicated that takeout, delivery, and reservations are available. Pets are not allowed.

Can I park if I drive?

The lack of dedicated restaurant parking was disappointing. If visiting by car, it is best to check Haengbok 1 Public Parking Lot or nearby public parking in advance.

What I remembered from this meal was the crisp pork cutlet, rich mushroom cream soup, and the self-service bar where I could have more rice and side dishes. It is a place I would think of when wanting old-style pork cutlets in Sanbon.
