Late-lunch tangsuyuk sets at Yongin Chinese spot Doseogwan Dwitjip
In short
Doseogwan Dwitjip is a Chinese restaurant on Guseong2-ro in Giheung-gu, Yongin, just behind Cheongdeok Library. On a late lunch visit we ordered one jjajang + tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) solo set at 12,500 won and one jjamppong + tangsuyuk solo set at 13,500 won; the thin noodles and onion-sweet jjajang sauce stood out, as did the jjamppong broth the restaurant says is aged 12 hours at low temperature. With green views through the window and books on the shelves, Doseogwan Dwitjip feels more like a café and works equally well for a date or a meal with kids.

A jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) favorite, a jjajang (black bean noodle) favorite, a Chinese restaurant in Giheung-gu: Doseogwan Dwitjip.

I finally made it to Doseogwan Dwitjip, a spot in Giheung-gu, Yongin I'd wanted to visit for a while just because of its unusual name. The food was so good and the vibe was great too!!

Why it's called Doseogwan Dwitjip (the house behind the library), and what the room feels like
A sign you see right when you walk in. It really is a restaurant behind a library, hence the name "Doseogwan Dwitjip" (house behind the library). Something about the name just feels warm and familiar.
I could check in with a tablet for waiting, but since I came for a late lunch, there was no wait and I got a table right away.

True to its name, there were books on shelves, and the lush green view through the big windows looked so pretty. Kind of gives off café vibes, don't you think?

There's a 4-person table and plenty of 2-person tables. Kids' chairs are available too.
A clean self-serve bar. There was a note asking one person per table to use the self bar — if it gets crowded it could get chaotic, so just send your boyfriend haha ^__^

Rice is free too, as much as you want. But we were both so full from our 1-person sets that we didn't even think about ordering rice! Haha

What we ordered: two solo sets and what they cost
Order details
- Jjajang + tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) 1-person set — ₩12,500
- Jjamppong + tangsuyuk 1-person set — ₩13,500
- Zero Coke — ₩2,000

Jjajang solo set: thin noodles and onion sweetness
My husband ordered the 1-person set with jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk together.

A delicious-looking jjajangmyeon topped with a quail egg. The tangsuyuk came with the sauce already poured over it, topped with cabbage. As I mixed the noodles, I noticed the noodle strands were quite thin!

It had that old-school jjajang feel with potato pieces in it, and the distinctive sweet jjajang flavor came through — really tasty. Apparently Doseogwan Dwitjip uses less water in their jjajang so instead of relying on seasoning and sugar, they draw sweetness out of the onions.

You can see the noodles are loaded with onion, and the sweetness that comes from it worked really well together haha.

Two 1-person sets on a 2-person table — perfect fit! Haha

Jjamppong solo set: broth aged 12 hours at low temperature
Next up is the jjamppong I ordered. It was listed as "aged hun-jjamppong" — stir-fried using only broth with no added water, then aged at low temperature for over 12 hours..!

Maybe that's why the broth really tasted different, with a deep flavor I loved. Jjamppong, good good.

The jjamppong also had thin noodles, which let the broth flavor really come through — I liked that. I scooped some out for my husband and it looked like a small portion, but both the broth and noodles were actually generous! Haha

Wood ear mushroom, meat, squid, shrimp and more — a variety of ingredients, plus bean sprouts for a refreshing finish. That's Doseogwan Dwitjip's jjamppong.

The plump shrimp were great too

Squid and scallops with the broth — so good~

Tangsuyuk with cabbage, served sauce poured over
Tangsuyuk topped with cabbage. Eating it together with the cabbage gave it a crunchy texture that I liked. It paired well, and the sauce was sweet and delicious.

It came sauce-poured, but I could still feel the crispness on the outside of the tangsuyuk.
We finished it all, cabbage included. It looked like a small portion, but eating a whole plate each per person felt plenty filling haha.

Is Doseogwan Dwitjip good for a date or for kids?
Doseogwan Dwitjip, a jjajang and jjamppong favorite in Giheung-gu with a great vibe and great food. The café-like atmosphere makes it nice for a date, and with kids' chairs and dishware, it also looked like a good spot to bring the family. If you're looking for good food in Giheung, I recommend Doseogwan Dwitjip!
