The name Onyu and the story of a two-generation family bakery

Bakery Onyu is a family bakery run across two generations: a father with 46 years of experience who is a Korean Master Baker (제과기능장), plus his son and daughter-in-law. "Onyu" (온유) comes from the Chinese characters 溫 (warm) and 柔 (soft), and I heard it means they make warm, soft bread and sell it the same day it is baked 👍

Introduction to Bakery Onyu, a two-generation family bakery

All the cakes at Bakery Onyu are made with unsweetened animal-based fresh cream from good milk, with no sugar, so they are said to be clean-tasting rather than sweet or greasy, with the natural flavor of the cream.

The breads I picked at Bakery Onyu: how did they taste?

There were so many kinds of bread that I agonized, then just loaded up on a bit of everything, haha. I had visited once last year and every single bread was delicious, so this time I picked different kinds. I headed off thinking, I can't wait to eat these! ^^

This is a popular Bakery Onyu item, full of butter flavor and garlic aroma, crisp outside and moist inside, soft and delicious^ By the way, "manong" (마농) is the Jeju dialect word for garlic, haha.

Basalt bread and fresh donut

I also picked up the basalt bread, made to evoke Jeju's basalt rock, and a fresh donut.
