Seongsu café open-run on a day off: fresh fig soufflé, 5to7 Seongsu

5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is a soufflé and coffee café on the Seongsu café street in Seongdong, Seoul, a five-minute walk from Seoul Forest. After taking a day off to walk through the Seoul Forest garden expo, we arrived right at opening and took a second-floor seat with a Seoul Forest view for the fresh fig soufflé, the 5to7 spanner (an einspänner-style coffee under whipped cream) and a Dutch americano. The two-tier soufflé at 5to7 was so large that two of us could not finish one, so we skipped a second order.

Seongsu omurice restaurant for a husband-and-wife date: Seongsu Darak

Seongsu Darak is an omurice and pasta brunch restaurant on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building on Ttukseom-ro 9-gil, near Seongsu Station in Seongdong, Seoul. After a walk around the Seongsu-dong gift shops, the writer and her husband took a 3rd-floor table at Seongsu Darak for Darak omurice, chapmoksal (thick pork collar) steak, lemon Seongsu ade and pineapple Darak ade, and found even the picture-frame entrance door and the printed napkin note charming. Between the omurice cutting and the juicy pork collar steak, Seongsu Darak made a satisfying Seongsu date course.
