My friend and I had already had a great first and second round on Yongridan-gil in Yongsan, and it felt like a waste to just call it a night. Wanting somewhere calmer to keep chatting, I went looking for a Samgakji cocktail bar and ended up at Cherish Mansion (셰리스맨션).

Even from a distance, the red sign stood out in the dark alley. Honestly, the name alone gave me the feeling I was stepping into some kind of secret space.
Inside Cherish Mansion: a starlit ceiling and wood-tone lounge
The moment I walked in, the first thing that caught my eye was the ceiling, covered edge to edge in tiny star-like lights. All those little points of light filling the dim ceiling made it feel like I'd stepped under a night sky.

The hearth-shaped structure at the center was a particularly unique touch. With the starlight, the warm wood tones and the brick arches all coming together, it had a mysterious, almost otherworldly atmosphere I really liked.

Is Cherish Mansion a good spot for quiet conversation?
The interior is wood-tone throughout, giving it a calm yet upscale lounge feel. The tables are spaced fairly generously too, so it was easy to sit across from my friend and actually talk. The lighting isn't especially bright, so it felt more suited to a quiet night of conversation than a loud, rowdy bar.

Each table has its own small lamp, giving every table its own softly glowing mood. It looks pretty in photos, but sitting there in person, the lighting made the whole space feel that much cozier.
There was a small lamp on my table too. With just the table lit softly in an otherwise dark room, even photos of my drink came out looking great. I think it's these small details that really shape the mood at Cherish Mansion.
The Cherish Mansion menu: cocktails, wine and whisky

The menu had more variety than I expected. Alongside signature and classic cocktails, there's wine, bourbon whiskey, scotch whiskey, and even Japanese whiskey.

The whiskey selection in particular was surprisingly wide, so whiskey lovers would have fun picking something here. There was plenty of range to choose from depending on your taste.

There's also a good variety of red and white wine, including some available by the glass, so it looked like a nice option for a lighter drink too.
What was the staff-recommended cocktail like?

I'm not that well versed in drinks, so at first I wasn't sure what to order. I decided to just tell the staff what style I usually like and ask for a recommendation. I said I prefer something clean rather than too sweet, and they picked a cocktail to match.

With its soft color and a martini glass to boot, it photographed beautifully. One sip in, it tasted fresh and sweet but cleaner than I expected — right up my alley. My friend and I each ordered something different, set our glasses side by side, and it was actually nice being able to each enjoy our own pick while we talked.

We clinked glasses lightly and talked about our day and how things have been going lately. After a first and second round already, just going straight home felt like a bit of a letdown — but adding one more drink in a space this quiet made it feel like this ended up being the real highlight of the night.

The complimentary crackers and cheese sauce
The quiet space and soft lighting definitely made it easier to focus on the conversation than at a loud bar. They also brought out crackers with cheese sauce as a basic snack. If you've already had dinner before coming, this kind of light snack is honestly perfect. It was great for picking at between sips of cocktail or whiskey whenever my mouth felt a little idle. My personal recommendation: pile the cheese generously onto the crackers!

What kind of night suits Cherish Mansion?
Searching for a Samgakji bar, you'll find plenty of loud, lively spots, but Cherish Mansion leans away from that kind of flashy energy, offering instead a place to sit with a drink under starlight and wood-tone décor. It'd work well as a second-round stop with friends, a date spot with a partner, or somewhere to sit alone with a quiet drink.

If you're looking for a bar with a little something different in Samgakji, or a quiet place to continue on after your first round, Cherish Mansion is worth a stop. It was a great place to close out the day, chatting with a friend under lighting as soft as starlight.
