Samgakji izakaya with public parking and chicken karaage: Hatpiendo
In short
Hatpiendo is a second-floor izakaya on Yongridan-gil, a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Samgakji Station in Yongsan, Seoul. As a second stop for the night, Hatpiendo served abalone innard pasta at 23,000 won and chicken thigh karaage at 26,000 won with a non-alcoholic Earl Grey highball and a yuzu sour, and the pasta sauce was thick enough to make you want to stir rice into it. With a public parking lot right out front and group seating on the third floor, Hatpiendo works well for engagement-announcement gatherings or a first date.

Today I brought a restaurant I want to introduce. It's an izakaya called Hatpiendo near Samgakji Station, and the atmosphere was so good it looked like a great spot for a blind date too. The side dishes are all exactly the kind women love. It's split into 2nd and 3rd floors, and apparently the 3rd floor is big enough for group use. Here's my review.
Where is Hatpiendo and what are its hours?
Hatpiendo is at 12 Hangang-daero 54-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, 2nd floor, a 5-minute walk from Samgakji Station Exit 3. Hours are Monday-Thursday 17:30-24:00, Friday 17:30-01:00, Saturday 16:30-00:30, and Sunday 16:30-23:00. Group reservations, parking, and wifi are available, and corkage is charged.
It's on the 2nd floor and has such a nice atmosphere you'll spot it right away.
Where do you park near Hatpiendo?
There's a public parking lot right in front of the restaurant. First 60 minutes is ₩3,000, then ₩250 per additional 65 minutes, up to a maximum of ₩15,000.
What Hatpiendo looks like inside and out
Here's what Hatpiendo looks like from outside. It's on the 2nd floor.

The directions are well marked too. Apparently Hatpiendo was named after being inspired by a Japanese folk rock band, aiming for a happy ending — a good ending!

Even waiting chairs are ready.

Interior view. There are 5 window seats, table-bar seats, and 3 tables of 4 ready inside.
Reservation event at Hatpiendo

Being an izakaya, there wasn't a single menu I didn't like. Since we'd already had a first round, we kept it simple!
How do the abalone innard pasta and chicken thigh karaage taste?

The basic setup. Neatly set up in advance.

The abalone guts pasta arrived giving off a thick, savory smell, with abalone piled on top. Visual, pass. Sauce thickness, pass. It tasted like something I'd want to make at home. Can you see how thick that sauce is? I wanted to mix rice into it.

The chicken thigh karaage came out like a nanban dish. The sauce and the fried chicken went really well together.

It's hot, so blow on it before eating.

Cherry tomatoes on top too, haha. Squeeze some lemon juice on it and it'd make a great beer snack too.

Earl Grey highball, yuzu sawa. My friend and I kept it light.

The abalone guts pasta was really, truly delicious!!

Bye for now, Hatpiendo — the atmosphere was great.
Final verdict on Hatpiendo
Hatpiendo seems like a great spot for dates or gatherings. First of all, every single side dish was delicious. I want to come back and try all the other snacks too. Good! Next time I've gotta have the sashimi and the mackerel sushi rolls!
