Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel Direct Store is a salt-grilled eel restaurant right in front of Bongcheon Station in Gwanak, Seoul. A couple ordered 1kg of salt-grilled eel for 59,000 won, had a staff member grill it over charcoal, dipped each piece in bokbunja (black raspberry) salt, and finished with one earthen pot of chueotang (loach soup) each. With a self-serve side dish bar, takeout, and eel extract to carry home, Jangsuchon Pungcheon suits both work dinners and a restorative family meal.

Yeongdeungpo food court restaurant: gondre stone pot rice at Gangmun

Gangmun Times Square Branch is a Korean restaurant in the Food Square food court on the basement floor (B1) of Times Square mall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. Dining alone for dinner, the writer ordered gondre (mountain vegetable) stone pot rice with biji jjigae (soybean pulp stew) and scraped up the crispy scorched rice left in the hot stone pot at the end. With two- and four-person tables, baby chairs and table kiosk ordering, Gangmun makes an easy Korean meal for solo diners and parents with a baby alike.
