Suji budae jjigae restaurant: beef belly stew and egg roll at Abuzzi

I'd ordered delivery from Abuzzi Budae Jjigae Suji Branch a few times and loved it, so this time I finally visited the actual restaurant!

Their takeout and delivery prices are so reasonable that I'd order from home whenever I craved budae jjigae — but I got curious about how it'd taste freshly boiled at the restaurant, haha.

Takeout ordered in person especially comes at a discounted price based on 3 servings, so it's really good value, isn't it?!

The dine-in menu ranged from the basic Abuzzi budae jjigae to Special Spam, beef belly, and ham-loaded budae jjigae — quite a variety.

With dine-in, ordering one dish per person gets you unlimited rice and ramyeon noodle refills, so it was great for eating your fill.

What's on the self-serve bar: rice, ramyeon noodles and broth refills

There was a self-serve bar on one side where you could take as much rice, side dishes, and ramyeon noodles as you wanted. Of course there was ramyeon noodle sari, essential for budae jjigae, and even broth refills were available, so no worries even if the soup reduced too much!!

Seaweed flakes and spicy chili flakes were also on offer separately, great for customizing to taste!! Pass for a spice lover like me!

For side dishes we got stir-fried fish cake and white kimchi, then the rice bowls and the budae jjigae arrived!

They said they'd lift the lid once the budae jjigae started boiling, so I waited! The smell was insane and made me even hungrier, haha.

The rolled egg omelette we ordered also showed up! I'd always thought the portion was generous even by delivery, but seeing it at the restaurant, the fillings — beef belly, ham, sausage, tofu, enoki mushrooms — were truly plentiful.

Does the rolled egg omelette go with army stew?

The rolled egg omelette we ordered as a side was bigger than expected, right?! Thick, fluffy egg roll piled high with ketchup and mayo! Taking a bite of the egg roll between spoonfuls of the spicy budae jjigae tamed the heat perfectly — such a great combo.

If two of you are going, I highly recommend ordering the budae jjigae with a rolled egg omelette together!

As the broth started boiling, the ham and beef belly flavors fully infused, and just the smell had me ready for a bowl of rice, haha.

True to being beef belly budae jjigae, it wasn't just ham — there was plenty of beef belly too. With tofu, sausage, ham, enoki mushrooms and more packed in, I never felt like the portion was lacking even for two people, haha.

How spicy is the broth?

Personally, Abuzzi's budae jjigae broth is exactly my style! Moderately spicy yet, maybe because of the beef belly, savory and rich, I kept scooping up spoonful after spoonful.

The ham and beef belly were tender and had soaked up the budae jjigae broth so well that I couldn't stop eating...

The scallions in there probably made the broth even more refreshing, haha. The variety of hams — Spam, frankfurter sausage, and more — made it even better!

Finishing with seaweed-flake bibimbap

It felt too soon to stop, so I mixed the leftover rice with budae jjigae fillings and a generous handful of seaweed flakes, mashing the tofu in and adding a bit of ham, beef belly, and broth too — and it turned out to be a delicacy of its own, haha.

I said I was full but scraped up every last spoonful anyway, haha 🤍

I'd eaten from here often by delivery, but Abuzzi Budae Jjigae Suji Branch was even better boiled right at the table!

The portions were generous and I could eat my fill of rice and ramyeon noodles too, so it was a great option when looking for a filling meal. The takeout price is easy on the wallet too, so I think I'll keep alternating between takeout and dine-in, haha.
