Incheon sushi shop three-pack takeout: raw shrimp and inari, Minyeong

In short

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is a sushi and live-fish shop inside Moraenae Market in Namdong, Incheon, where sushi is sold by the ready-packed tray to take home. After a walk through the market, three packs — raw shrimp sushi, mixed shrimp sushi and inari sushi (fried tofu pouches filled with rice) — went into the shop's cooler bag at 10,000 won a pack, and each tray already held mini soup, soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger. The plump raw shrimp and the sweet-salty inari sushi made a full dinner with nothing else to prepare.

Sushi takeout after a market walk at Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang, Moraenae Market

I went to check out Moraenae Market and wanted something simple for dinner, so I picked up sushi to go from Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch, a sushi spot right inside the market. I figured it'd be easy to grab a few packs since it's right there in the market, but once I got inside, the range of sushi on display was way bigger than I expected!

They're a third-generation legend from Yeonan Pier, apparently. And they run a YouTube channel with 20 million subscribers!! (Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang!)

What's in the display case and what it costs: raw shrimp sushi at 10,000 won a pack

There's raw shrimp sushi, salmon, flatfish, tuna, eel, inari — so many kinds I stood there thinking for a while, haha.

All the sushi is neatly packed into individual packs, so it's easy to see the condition and contents and pick exactly what you want.

There are price tags right on display — raw shrimp sushi and vinegared shrimp sushi at ₩10,000 a pack, engawa sushi at ₩15,000 — so it's easy to compare contents and prices while you choose.

There were single-type packs of whatever sushi you like, plus omakase sushi and special sushi packs where you get to try a bunch of different kinds!

A set like the special sushi, where you can try several kinds at once, seemed like a good pick for eating with family or splitting among several people.

The packing was also neat — everything went into Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang's own cooler bag, which made it easy to carry around after browsing the market, haha.

Three packs opened at home, mini soup and pickled ginger included

What I brought home this time was three kinds: raw shrimp sushi / mixed shrimp sushi / inari sushi!

Once I got home and opened everything up one by one, just these three packs made for a surprisingly generous spread. They'd included mini miso soup, soy sauce and wasabi, plus plenty of pickled ginger, so there was basically nothing else I needed to prepare!!

When I opened it up, the quality of the sushi was even better than I expected.

How does the raw shrimp sushi taste and feel?

The first thing that caught my eye was the raw shrimp sushi! Even in photos, you can see the shrimp is translucent and glossy — it still looked great after being carried home, right?!

Each pack is packed with shrimp, piled up so high it nearly covers the rice, which made it look really appetizing, haha.

The moment I bit into the raw shrimp, I got that plump, chewy texture right away. With a bit of ginger on top and a dip in soy sauce, the shrimp's clean flavor paired really well with the soy sauce.

Inside the mixed shrimp sushi pack: soy sauce, garlic and vinegared shrimp

The soy sauce shrimp had a salty-sweet flavor that was fully seasoned on its own, no soy sauce needed.

Eating just one kind of sushi over and over can get a little tiring, but with a mixed pack, you get to switch up the flavor along the way, which was nice. If you're eating with several people or can't decide what to get, going with a mixed pack seems like a solid choice.

Various shrimp sushi types in the mixed shrimp sushi pack

Even with the same shrimp, the texture changes by type — raw shrimp is plump and springy, garlic shrimp adds extra savoriness, and vinegared shrimp has that familiar, soft feel!

Why add a pack of inari sushi?

And of course, inari sushi (fried tofu pocket sushi) — a must! I packed it because raw fish sushi alone felt a little lacking, and it turned out to be a great call..🤍

The tofu pockets were moist and sweet-salty — a familiar flavor that's easy for anyone to enjoy.

Bite-sized, moist inari sushi

They're also just the right size for one bite, so alternating between one raw shrimp sushi and one inari sushi worked really well together. If you're eating with someone who can't have much sashimi or raw shrimp, adding a pack of inari sushi is a good idea.

Verdict: an easy sushi stop at the end of a Moraenae Market run

If you're grocery shopping in Moraenae Market and looking for something simple to eat for dinner once you get home, I'd recommend picking up sushi from Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch.

You can see and pick exactly what you want, and with everything from single-type sushi to special and mixed sets, there's plenty of variety to choose from based on what you're in the mood for!

Next time I visit, I'm getting the raw shrimp sushi again for sure!! If you like plump raw shrimp, I'd recommend it, and if you want to try a few different kinds, go for the mixed shrimp sushi too.

This was my review of Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch — a great spot to pick up a simple dinner on the way home after browsing Moraenae Market~!
