Guwol-dong BBQ: crispy pork belly perilla wraps, Euljiro Charcoal

In short

Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch is a charcoal-grill meat restaurant behind Rodeo Square in Guwol-dong, Namdong, Incheon. On a friend's recommendation, the writer ordered the 600g pork platter for 36,000 won and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) for 4,900 won, and the well-grilled pork belly came out crisp outside and tender inside, with perilla leaves on the free side spread. Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch is a satisfying pick if you want value and charcoal smoke together.

Meat that tastes even better grilled over charcoal ꔛEuljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branchꔛ

Why a friend sent us to Euljiro Charcoal Grill for Guwol-dong pork belly

Today I visited a Guwol-dong pork belly spot recommended by my friend who loves pork belly more than anyone. Since it's grilled over charcoal, the meat had this subtle smoky flavor, was super fresh, and the value was great too — I was really satisfied. This is the magic meat restaurant that turns my light-eater friend into a big eater... let me introduce it!

The green sign stood out so it was easy to find, and it's located behind Rodeo Square so it wasn't crowded, which I liked.

Inside Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch: seating and restrooms

The interior was spacious and clean. Meat restaurants often have tables crammed together, but Euljiro Charcoal Grill had a nice, roomy layout.

The retro-style tables and storage chairs were great for stashing bags.

The restroom is on the first floor of the same building, and you need to grab a card key from the restaurant. It's outside the restaurant but was very clean!

Menu and order sizes at Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch

This Guwol-dong pork belly favorite sells everything from pork and beef to seafood. I wondered if the seafood at a meat restaurant would really be fresh, but they said it's brought in fresh daily straight from the coastal wharf, so no need to worry about freshness 😄

𖤐 Meat orders start at 300g for the first order, and additional orders go in 100g increments 𖤐

Once you sit down, they bring in the charcoal fire — it had been so long since I'd grilled meat over charcoal that I was already excited about how good it would taste.

Free side spread with perilla leaves and the self-serve bar

Here's the basic side spread. The onion sauce was really tasty, and they gave both lettuce and perilla leaves — as a perilla lover, I was so happy 🥹

I figured kimchi would be hard to grill on a wire rack, but they set out bean sprouts and kimchi separately on the grill for us to cook 😌

You can grab any side dishes you're missing from the self-serve bar — they said the bar food is served in small portions to keep it fresh, which was reassuring.

600g pork platter for 36,000 won: how do the 6 cuts taste?

The popular assorted pork platter that was ordered

I ordered the most popular assorted menu.

Six cuts of pork: belly, shoulder, dwitgogi, jowl, skirt meat, and skin

The pork platter (han-geun) consists of six cuts: pork belly, pork shoulder, dwitgogi (rear cut), pork jowl, skirt meat, and pork skin.

You get to try six different cuts of meat — a full 600g, and only 36,000 won, which is honestly amazing 😮

Don't worry that a cheap price means poor-quality meat! The meat came out really fresh and clean.

Pork belly grilled crisp on the charcoal grate

They put my favorite, pork belly, on first. The belly had just the right amount of fat, and the thickness was perfect for grilling and eating.

They also brought a modest amount of garlic to go with the meat — modest by Korean standards, that is 😌

Crispy charcoal-grilled pork belly with garlic

I like my meat cooked well-done, so I grilled it a long time — maybe because it's charcoal-grilled, but the outside got crisp while the inside stayed tender. There was also a subtle smoky flavor that deepened the meat's overall taste ♡

Pork shoulder and the remaining cuts

Next they grilled the pork shoulder. The fat-to-lean ratio was just right, and you could tell at a glance it was fresh.

Thick pork shoulder grilling on the wire rack

The shoulder cut was also fairly thick but really tender — one bite and the juices were still there. It was especially good dipped lightly in salt.

Chewy grilled dwitgogi (rear cut pork)

We went on to grill and try the pork jowl, skirt meat, and dwitgogi in order. With so many different cuts, each had its own flavor and texture, making it fun to pick and choose, and eating small portions of each kept things interesting all the way through without getting tired of it.

The dwitgogi in particular was really chewy, and the more I chewed it the more savory it got — I enjoyed it a lot.

Pork skin grilled at the end of the meal

I finished up with the pork skin, which was chewy without being too tough, and grilling it over charcoal added a subtle smoky flavor that made it savory and really delicious!

Bibim naengmyeon for 4,900 won: is the portion big enough?

Bibim naengmyeon served in a regular full size

I also ordered naengmyeon (cold noodles), which is a must with grilled meat. The price seemed low enough that I thought it might be a smaller after-meal size, but it actually came in a regular full naengmyeon size.

Bibim naengmyeon with broth poured in

They gave us the noodle broth right from the start, so I ate it mixed first and then poured the broth in — both versions were delicious, and the portion was generous enough to finish the meal on a full note.

Just a heads-up: writing a Naver receipt review gets you free soybean paste stew or pork skin.

Final verdict on Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch

Getting to try fresh, quality meat across so many different cuts, each with that subtle charcoal smokiness, was really satisfying. The value is great, and with seafood available too, there's plenty of fun in choosing what to eat. If you're looking for a good meat restaurant in Guwol-dong, or you just love meat grilled over charcoal, I recommend giving this place a visit!
