Songdo bakery snack-and-lunch picks for kids: kkamang-i, Tomoru

In short

Tomoru Bakery is a bakery on the first floor of Acrya Building 2 in Songdo, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, on the road toward Haedoji Park. Out with the kids, the writer filled a tray with kkamang-i (squid ink bread), fresh vegetable croquette, salt bread and pollack roe scallion baguette as both snack and a light meal, and every one was good. With so many kinds of bread on the shelves, Tomoru Bakery is worth returning to just to pick something different each time.

Going out with the kids means I have to worry about both a meal and a snack, so I'm always debating what to eat. That day, I remembered my bread-loving kids and looked up a bakery. 😊 The place I visited: Tomoru Bakery!

I've always loved bread, so I can't just walk past a decent bakery, 😇 and the moment I walked in, there were way more bread types than I expected. At first I told myself I'd only pick a few, but seeing everything laid out kept changing my mind. In the end I loaded up on all sorts of things. Hehe.

Where Tomoru Bakery is in Songdo, and where to park

Tomoru Bakery is on the 1st floor of Acrya Building 2, on the way to Haedoji Park, near the Pungrim Apartments side, so it wasn't hard to find. When I'm moving around with kids, parking is always my first concern, and it was convenient to have the building's underground lot available. They said up to 4 hours of free parking is possible with store use.

There are tables indoors and outdoors, so you can eat there too. If you're moving around with kids like me, taking bread home is nice, but it'd also be great to stop by while wandering around Central Park and rest with bread and a drink. It also worked well as a simple brunch-style bread pick. 💚

Once inside, there were so many bread types that I spent a long time browsing. 😊 There were meal breads, snack breads kids would love, and quite a variety of baguettes and salt breads too.

First visit? Four breads to pick at Tomoru Bakery

First-timers at Tomoru Bakery will probably struggle with choices like I did, since there are so many types. So let me pick out a few I tried and liked: kkamang-i, fresh vegetable croquette, salt bread, and pollack roe scallion baguette.

Kkamang-i bread made with squid ink dough

Kkamang-i, 5,800 won: squid ink dough with cream cheese and walnuts

Kkamang-i has soft cream cheese and walnuts inside squid ink dough, giving it a nice bite. The bread itself is soft, but the walnuts crunch in between, making the texture fun. The cream cheese keeps it from being too plain, and I could taste a savory note alongside it, so I enjoyed it quite a bit. 💚

Fresh vegetable croquette, good as a meal substitute

Fresh vegetable croquette and bacon potato salt bread

The fresh vegetable croquette is great as a snack, but also works fine as a quick meal. When you're busy taking care of kids, there are days moms don't get to eat properly. On those days, grabbing a piece of bread happens, and the fresh vegetable croquette felt exactly like that kind of bread!!

And the basic salt bread was plain and delicious too. If you like salt bread, it's worth picking one up. I also tried the bacon potato salt bread, and that was delicious too. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It had a different feel from the basic salt bread, so next time I want to try other salt bread varieties too.

Pollack roe scallion baguette, 5,000 won

I'd also recommend the pollack roe scallion baguette. Maybe because I love baguettes, I enjoyed this one a lot. With pollack roe and scallion inside, it has a flavor quite different from a plain baguette. It's fine as a snack, but I think it would suit even better when you're a bit hungry. :)

Dough cold-fermented for 18 hours

After eating, I looked up a bit more about Tomoru Bakery and found that the dough is cold-fermented for at least 18 hours. 👍 They said each bread is baked fresh every single day. They use organic flour, natural sourdough starter, AOP-certified butter, and antibiotic-free eggs, with no artificial additives. I also learned that a master baker bakes the bread himself.

Honestly, I didn't know any of this in detail when I visited. I just picked things because they looked delicious, but after eating and then learning about the process, it made sense why the taste and texture varied so much from bread to bread. The best, the best!! 💚💚

A must-visit bakery pilgrimage stop, Tomoru Bakery

The red bean bun and garlic baguette were delicious too, and the ciabatta, campagne, and pizza bread are genuinely all good! If you love bread, rather than visiting once and calling it done, it'd be fun to pick something different every time. Hehe 🤍 For a bread lover, a bakery isn't a one-and-done kind of place, right? 😆 I'm already thinking about which bread to pick next time. 🤍
