Songdo dessert café for berry scoop cake after a meal: Standard Square

After a tasty meal in Songdo, I went to a dessert café. It was my first time at Standard Square, and I ordered scoop cake and coffee. It was much better than I expected, so I was really happy haha (●'◡'●)

Standard Square location, hours and parking

Standard Square (스탠다드 스퀘어) is at 50 Keonbensia-daero, Building 101, Units 101-102, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, and it's open 09:00 - 22:00. Parking is available in the shopping complex lot.

What's the atmosphere like at Standard Square in Songdo?

The café's exterior stands out with a blue sign. The clean, stylish interior caught my eye too.

One side of the café is a big glass window, so you can see right inside. It feels open, and even from outside it looks cozy and sentimental. I think visiting in the daytime, with warm sunlight pouring through the windows, would make for a relaxed, atmospheric time. It's such a pretty, moody café ლ(╹◡╹ლ)

The interior is done mostly in white, so it feels clean and spacious overall. White tables and blue chairs match the blue sign outside, which looks like a deliberate color match.

The layout is a little special too: there's a separate area at the back of the interior, and tables are packed into every corner of the space.

Standard Square cookie and scoop cake prices

Cookies are ₩4,700 each, and a cookie box (5) is ₩23,500. In the showcase next to the menu board there are freshly baked cookies, with so many kinds: Dwaeji Bar cookie (named after a Korean ice cream bar) / caramel pecan / Lotus s'more / Oreo s'more and more. They all looked so good > <

They say all desserts at Standard Square are baked in-store every day with carefully chosen ingredients: organic flour, grade 1 antibiotic-free eggs, French chocolate and fresh cream, organic sugar and so on. Hearing that they're homemade with good ingredients made me even more excited for dessert (╹ڡ╹ )

What we ordered: nuts latte, iced americano and triple berry scoop cake

We ordered a nuts latte ₩6,700, an iced americano ₩5,500 and a triple berry scoop cake ₩9,500 :)

The coffee and cake came out on a blue tray that fit the café's mood well, and it looks really pretty in photos too.

How does the triple berry scoop cake taste?

Standard Square's triple berry scoop cake has blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. I couldn't decide between a cookie and a cake, but I was curious about the scoop cake, so I ordered it. It's heaped with berry compote that adds a sweet-tart flavor. The cream, a blend of cream cheese and fresh cream, was smooth and rich and went well with the berries, so the cake was really delicious.

Finally, the nutty cookie crumble sprinkled on top adds a crunchy texture. The fresh berries and toasty crumble go together so well that I never got tired of it and enjoyed it to the last bite.

How nutty is the nuts einspänner?

The nuts einspänner is one of Standard Square's signature coffees, with cream enriched by nutty flavor over strong coffee. The moment I took a sip, the nutty aroma came through strongly. Honestly, it's nuts in a cup haha At first the cream felt a little heavy, but the more I drank, the more I got hooked on the smooth cream.

It isn't just sweet: the deep nutty richness and mild coffee flavor blend nicely, and I finished the whole thing happily. If you usually like lattes or cream coffee, I recommend trying it.

Iced americano with the Standard Blend

Standard Square's iced americano uses Standard Blend beans, with a not-too-strong acidity and a nutty, full body. I stole a little of my friend's iced americano haha The acidity wasn't too strong, so it was easy to drink, and the clean finish was good too.

They say the Standard Blend is the signature blend used by default for americanos, café lattes and all kinds of other coffee drinks.

Can you buy coffee beans at Standard Square?

Besides the Standard Blend, Standard Square sells a variety of other beans. They'd be good to buy for yourself or as a gift.

Is Standard Square in Songdo worth a return visit?

Maybe because the desserts are made with good ingredients, they tasted even better. This time I had the scoop cake, but next time I want to try the various cookies, so I plan to go back and buy a cookie box. If you're looking for a great dessert spot or a café with a nice atmosphere in Songdo, Standard Square is worth a visit.
