What kind of café is 5PM sunset hour, a stop on a Yeongjongdo drive?
5PM sunset hour is a café in Yeongjong Sky City on Yeongjongdo, famous for its salt bread. The weather was lovely, so I went for a drive around Yeongjongdo with an acquaintance, and when we started craving something sweet and a cold coffee after lunch, we stopped at 5PM sunset hour.
Doesn't the name alone feel romantic? The whole café showed off the owner's good sense. The decor props dotted around and the stylish mood were better than I expected.
The atmosphere at 5PM sunset hour

We arrived around 1:30 p.m. and it was quite crowded. Right then I felt the vibe of a proper dessert spot. The stylish interior mixed with cute little props made the space feel like another kind of healing for me.

What's on the menu at 5PM sunset hour?

This café is dessert heaven~ ^^ From a variety of brunch items to light desserts, there was a really wide choice.
- Brunch menu
- Salt bread
- Financier (small butter almond cake)
- Egg tart
- Scones
- Bagels
- Sliced bread
- Taiwanese sandwiches
- Doughnuts
- The trendy butter rice cake (beoter-tteok)
They have small cartons of milk, so it seems like a good place for a light brunch with a child. (The outdoor tables are spacious, so a stroller is no problem.)
First visit? The signature set menus at 5PM sunset hour

If you're visiting 5PM sunset hour for the first time and can't decide, try the SET MENU. It pairs the signature salt bread with coffee.
We came after lunch, so we added a latte to the lightweight Sora set and also got a Sosa set to take away. The neatly lined-up financiers seemed to be shouting "Try me~", so we added those too and had them with our coffee.
How do the iced latte and financier at 5PM sunset hour taste?

The iced latte seemed to have a higher coffee ratio so it doesn't leave a heavy milky feel, which suited my taste perfectly. The financier was very slightly crisp outside with a dense texture inside.
The weather was so nice that day that we sat at an outdoor table and waited for our coffee. The red tables and red awning briefly made me feel like I was sitting in a café in the middle of New York. Haha.
A little later, the pretty owner brought everything right to our table. She kindly explained that the salt bread we took away should be reheated in an air fryer at 180°C for 2–3 minutes, and even stuck on a cute sticker so we wouldn't forget. With this much kindness and good sense, we have to become regulars, right?
One sip of the iced latte made me forget the midday heat for a moment. The financier's signature butter flavor filled my mouth, a fantastic combination with the nuttiness of the latte.
How can you get 5PM sunset hour's milk bread without it selling out?
The milk bread comes out between 12 and 1 p.m. that day, and if you phone ahead to reserve it, you can buy it without trouble. If you're planning a visit, please call and reserve the bread first.
It was crowded when we went, so we ordered drinks first, then went to the counter a bit later to order the bread to take away, and sadly the milk bread was 'SOLD OUT'. T_T Seeing my disappointed face, the owner told me that next time I can buy it if I phone ahead and then visit. Once again I could feel the energy of a Yeongjongdo hotspot.

There are so many things I wanted to eat but couldn't try, so I'll have to come back soon. My mouth is already watering. Haha. Next time I'll definitely start with the brunch menu.
