Dongchuwon Bulgogi, a family-gathering bulgogi restaurant in Hagik-dong, Incheon
Dongchuwon Bulgogi

A Hagik-dong, Incheon restaurant that was great for a family gathering. I booked ahead on Naver and here's my review of this bulgogi spot 🥰💕
Inside Dongchuwon Bulgogi: group seating and private rooms

In this sweltering weather, a hearty Incheon stamina meal was just right, and Dongchuwon Bulgogi in Hagik-dong has a spacious interior too.

It has group seating that's great for family gatherings, plus private rooms 😉 I'd recommend phoning ahead to reserve a room.
Dongchuwon Bulgogi menu and set options
As a proper bulgogi specialist, the signature dish is Korean beef bulgogi, but there's plenty more: jeongol (hot pot), bibimbap, gukbap (rice soup), naengmyeon (cold noodles) and so on.

The set menu especially has great value and composition ✨ Along with the main old-style bulgogi, naengmyeon comes included as the meal item. Ordering a set also gets you a discount on side dishes, so we added the grilled squid too 🥰
Side dishes and mustard-leaf pickle kimchi

After ordering, a neat spread of side dishes is set out. There aren't many kinds, but they taste fantastic, and the kimchi was so good. If you run short, you can refill at the self-serve bar.

The fresh, tangy, healthy salad was especially good for whetting the appetite before the meal.

The mustard-leaf pickle kimchi (gat kimchi), unique to Dongchuwon Bulgogi in Hagik-dong, was truly the best. It really sparks your appetite.

Old-Style Bulgogi single set for ₩24,900: how to eat it
✅ Old-Style Bulgogi single set (₩24,900). Then came the old-style bulgogi for two, which looked amazing ✨

The bulgogi was piled up like a mountain and looked so appetizing.
The staff explained in detail how to eat the old-style bulgogi best, so we could enjoy it even more 😉

On the warmed bulgogi pan, add the bulgogi plus assorted vegetables and mushrooms, pour in Dongchuwon's special broth, and enjoy it like shabu-shabu 🥰💕

The bulgogi broth can be refilled, so you can adjust the flavor, which was handy.

Once all the vegetables and mushrooms went in, the Dongchuwon bulgogi looked even more appetizing.

The sizzling, bubbling old-style bulgogi was amazing in both looks and taste, truly!

Bulgogi burgers made with dinner rolls
A fun treat: when you order bulgogi, you get dinner rolls (morning bread) to make into little burgers.

Put cheese, mustard sauce and the mustard-leaf pickle kimchi inside the roll, and it's done.
With the bulgogi and pickle kimchi in there, it was just like a proper handmade burger place 😉
Grilled squid for ₩12,900
✅ Grilled squid (₩12,900). And the side dish we ordered, the grilled squid, had an incredible smoky flavor.

A subtle spiciness rising up along with that smoky char flavor. Perfect!!!

The squid was bouncy and chewy, and the gradual kick of spice was the best appetite booster.

Dessert naengmyeon included in the set: mul and bibim
As the meal was winding down, we ordered the dessert naengmyeon included in the old-style bulgogi set, one mul (broth) and one bibim (spicy mixed).

In such hot weather, a bowl of icy naengmyeon cooled me right down. So good!

Topping it with bulgogi to make yuk-ssam naengmyeon (meat-wrapped noodles) made this dessert naengmyeon twice as delicious!!!
When we finished eating, a kind staff member brought us a cup of tea, which was clean and nice as a final after-meal drink.
Dongchuwon Bulgogi verdict: takeout and meal kits

Every menu item at Dongchuwon Bulgogi is available for takeout ✔️ They also sell Dongchuwon meal kits, which would make a nice holiday gift for someone special. There was a wide variety of kits 😉

Dongchuwon Bulgogi has stood firmly in the same spot for a long time as a Hagik-dong favorite.

An Incheon restaurant with private rooms, and healthy, filling bulgogi in Hagik-dong. That wraps up my Dongchuwon Bulgogi review. The end!
