This is a brunch story from Chat Baker, a big café in Anseong near Pyeongtaek, where you eat to the sound of jazz.

Since moving to Anseong, Chat Baker is the big café I've been to the most. I always came for coffee and bread, but today I came for brunch.

- ✏️One-line review: Highly recommended if you want a brunch with atmosphere in Anseong!!!
Is there still bread left at Chat Baker's bakery in the late afternoon?
The bakery sells out even on weekdays, so when you go late in the afternoon the loaf breads are almost gone. There's a huge variety, like the thousand-layer pastry, croissants and financiers.

I went late in the afternoon, so the loaf breads were all gone. At the entrance there were milk bread, corn bread and walnut bread. The showcase on the right is twice the size shown in the photo, and one side was totally empty. Chat Baker's breads sell out even on weekdays! There's a real variety of tasty bakes, like the thousand-layer pastry, croissants, financiers and more.

The refrigerated showcase had whole cakes and cake slices, and the selection changes every time I visit. See the photo below for how to place a reservation.
What's on Chat Baker's brunch menu?
Chat Baker's brunch menu has pasta, risotto, gnocchi and appetizers. There was a bingsu (shaved ice dessert) menu too, but bingsu season seems to be over.

The photos above show the bingsu and brunch menus. Looks like bingsu is done for the season. There were lots of brunch options too, including pasta, risotto, gnocchi and appetizers, so take a look.
Chat Baker's review event and how to reserve
If you join the Naver receipt review event at Chat Baker, you can get a salt bread or a tea coaster. The writer strongly recommends taking the coaster, which has an LP-record-like finish.

If you take part in the Naver receipt event, they give you a salt bread or a tea coaster. The salt bread is super tasty, but the coaster has a material similar to an LP record and looks so pretty under a cup. Be sure to take a coaster!!!
Chat Baker's 1st floor: a quiet spot to talk to the sound of water
The 1st floor of Chat Baker has a calm mood with white interiors and wood tables. Water flows down the window on a schedule, so you can hear it.

The 1st floor has white interiors and wood tables that feel modern and calm. Water runs down the window on the hour, and listening to it felt like being in a forest, which I loved. The sofa seats are probably the most popular spot on this floor.
Chat Baker's 2nd floor: where the jazz performances happen
The 2nd floor of Chat Baker has a Balmuda toaster for warming your bread, a self-serve bar, and the signature space where jazz performances are held. You can check the performance schedule on Chat Baker's Instagram.

Upstairs there's a Balmuda toaster for warming your bread and a self-serve bar, and then you reach the space that's Chat Baker's signature among big Anseong–Pyeongtaek cafés. Performances are held right in front of it. Check Instagram for details.

When you come up to the 2nd floor, you'll see ceramics on display to the right, and they go so well with the café. White pottery against a green backdrop gives a moon jar (traditional round white porcelain jar) feeling! Looking toward the 1st floor, you see hanging plants trailing down, which gives a forest-like mood.
2nd-floor seating: half-circle sofas, a long table and floor seats
Further inside the mood is a bit more modern. The half-circle sofa seats looked better for chatting, and the long table in the middle looked good for solo café time or studying. By the window there are also floor seats, so you can sit comfortably.
Late-afternoon brunch at Chat Baker: prices and taste
At Chat Baker I ordered the roe shrimp oil pasta (₩16,800), the Johnsonville rosé pasta (₩19,000) and a lemonade (₩7,000). Brunch runs until 8 p.m., so I could eat at a relaxed pace even in the late afternoon.

- Lemonade ₩7,000
Lemonade: with pasta, choose an ade over coffee
Maybe because it's made with freshly squeezed lemon syrup, the ade was really fresh and delicious. It goes so well with pasta that for brunch I recommend an ade over coffee!!!

Roe shrimp oil pasta: thick fresh noodles and big shrimp
Doesn't it look different from the usual oil pasta color? I think there's a secret sauce. The noodles are thicker than usual and fresh, so they soak up the sauce, which makes it even tastier.

The bouncy shrimp are big, so they're satisfying to chew. Add the pollock roe on top and the savory flavor just explodes. There's a subtle spiciness too, so you can enjoy it without it feeling heavy.

Johnsonville rosé pasta: rich rosé with juicy sausage
This is a rich rosé pasta served with Johnsonville sausage. A subtle depth of flavor is added to the harmony of smooth cream and tomato.
The snappy Johnsonville sausage bursts with juice, and the rosé sauce is the addictive kind where you keep scooping it up. With the sausage it's really filling.

Who is Chat Baker's brunch good for?
Chat Baker serves brunch until 8 p.m., so it's also good when you want a light dinner. My husband really loves Chat Baker's coffee and bread, and he said the brunch is great too and wants to come often. Since brunch goes late, I'll drop by now and then when I want a light dinner.
I recommend Chat Baker, a big Anseong–Pyeongtaek café, to people visiting Anseong Farmland, people looking for a big café around Anseong and Pyeongtaek, people looking for a great brunch spot in Gongdo, Anseong, and people who love jazz!!!
