The basement food court at Jongno Tower has tons of restaurants serving all kinds of menus, making it a popular lunch spot for office workers. There are a lot of rice places on B1 and B2, and I visited Bonghyejane Jubang, a Korean restaurant specialist on B2.

It's known as a good restaurant near Jonggak, and there were plenty of customers. The clean, cozy interior makes it comfortable for solo dining and good for dates too. What the restaurant and its seating are like

I visited around 7pm on a weekday. The restaurant is clean and pleasant, with a neat, modern interior. There were customers having dinner, and it felt comfortable for both solo dining and dates.

There are tables for two, tables for four, and group seating, so it's perfect for gatherings and for office workers' lunch or dinner. There's also a private space toward the back, good for company dinners.
Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch menu and prices

There's currently an event where you get a drink or an alcoholic beverage if you write a Naver receipt review.

The menu includes mushroom perilla soup set ₩13,000, whole octopus stir-fry (solo) ₩15,000, octopus stir-fry set ₩16,000, charcoal grilled bulgogi set ₩14,000, spicy seafood sundubu set ₩13,500, bossam set, pork stir-fry set ₩15,000, king pork cutlet ₩14,000, bibim jjolmyeon with flat dumplings ₩12,500, 1988 hamburg steak ₩13,500, zucchini pancake, gamtae gimbap (seaweed rice roll with sea lettuce), and a variety of other Korean dishes.

The whole octopus stir-fry set is ₩42,000, and the spicy baby octopus stir-fry set is ₩40,000. These come with a main dish, rice, jjolmyeon (chewy noodles) side, mushroom perilla soup or a tasting portion of bossam, flounder sweet and sour sauce, mukguksu (mung bean jelly noodles), and pumpkin porridge included as standard, making it good to enjoy on a date.

Table order kiosks were set up, so ordering and paying was easy. Sesame oil was available on the table, which made mixing the rice convenient.
Pork stir-fry set, 15,000 won, ordered at medium spice

This is the pork stir-fry set I ordered. It was a neat, tidy Korean meal, and it comes with mushroom perilla soup included.

The rice came in a large bowl, easy to mix, topped with gim (seaweed) flakes and chicory.

The side dishes were white kimchi, seasoned peanuts, seasoned gim, and pumpkin porridge. The pumpkin porridge was sweet and savory, nice to eat as a dessert.

The spice level of the pork stir-fry can be adjusted. You can choose mild, medium, or spicy, and I went with medium. It had a smoky grilled flavor, and the sauce was addictive — the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more. The portion was just right for one person.

I put the pork stir-fry into the big rice bowl, added some fragrant sesame oil, and mixed it all together for a delicious bite.
Mushroom perilla soup set, 13,000 won: thick broth with jorangi tteok (chewy rice cakes)

This is the mushroom perilla soup set. It's not spicy or heavy — savory and clean-tasting, well suited as a hangover cure or a nourishing meal. It came drizzled with fragrant sesame oil, which made it even more enjoyable.

It's made with onion, jorangi tteok (twisted rice cakes), and mushrooms, and there's plenty of perilla powder in it, giving the broth a thick texture. If you want something mild and easy on the stomach, I'd recommend this mushroom soup full of nutty perilla flavor. The chewy texture of the jorangi tteok was a nice touch.

It made for a satisfying, healthy meal. The rice was fluffy, and wrapping it in seasoned gim really brought out the flavor.
Wrap-up: who should eat at Bonghyejane Jubang

I'd recommend this to anyone near Jonggak Station looking for a clean, reliable Korean lunch, anyone who likes a mild, hearty home-style meal, or anyone just looking for a comfortable place to eat. If you want to enjoy a proper Korean meal in a tidy atmosphere near Jongno Tower, definitely stop by Bonghyejane Jubang Jongno Tower branch. I left the B2 food court at Jongno Tower well fed and satisfied.
It's easily accessible near Jonggak Station, and since there's a parking lot in the basement of the building, I got 1 hour and 30 minutes of free parking after eating.
With such a wide variety of Korean dishes, it felt like eating home cooking. If you're looking for a good restaurant near Jonggak, give it a try. Thanks for reading.
