Eel restaurant in Bundang with ₩10,000 wine corkage: Mansuheon Jeongja
In short
Mansuheon Jeongja is a charcoal-grilled eel and Korean health-food restaurant on the 2nd floor of Baekgung Plaza 2, Jeongjail-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam. On a Wednesday at 6pm, booked through Naver, two friends ordered salt-grilled eel for two and opened their own white wine for ₩10,000 corkage per bottle, with an ice bucket provided. The eel arrives 90% pre-grilled over 1,300°C charcoal, and chawanmushi rounds off the meal, so a second visit for the eel rice bowl is already planned.

Today I'm introducing a restaurant in Bundang that I visited this past Wednesday with our Crystal — an eel place I now have to go back to for the eel rice bowl, haha.
This place hasn't been open that long, but it's already well known among locals, and I'd had it saved because I really wanted to go!
Crystal had time again so I made a Naver Reservation and went — let me introduce it now for neighbors who haven't been yet. Let's gooo!

We went on Wednesday, which happened to be bump day for me!
Mansuheon Jeongja location and parking — how close is it to Jeongja Station?
Mansuheon Jeongja is on the 2nd floor of Baekgung Plaza 2 at 158 Jeongjail-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. I used to go to a Pilates studio in this same building for quite a while, so coming back here felt nostalgic (that studio isn't running anymore!).
Reservations and parking
I booked a few days ahead using the Naver Reservation page! Catch Table works too! It's easy to reach by public transport and I'm a car-free type so I took the bus — but if you're driving, the building has basement parking (including B3), which is super convenient! It's also within 300 meters walk of Jeongja Station Exit 3, served by both the Suin-Bundang Line and Sinbundang Line, so it's very accessible, haha.
The entrance
By the door there's a sign with the lunch specialties (the reason it's become famous for eel rice bowls in Bundang), the dinner specialties, and info on drink pairings and corkage — handy to check before going in! I'll go into detail on these later!
Melting in the heat, Yonlab here was carrying a handheld fan lol. Let's open the door with fan in hand and head inside! Oh, and the restroom is the shared men's/women's restroom in the building — no separate passcode, but it was clean and easy to use, haha.

Finally made it into Mansuheon Jeongja — so moving! lol. Near Jeongja Station, besides the eel rice bowls, it's a premium health-food restaurant where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled dishes too♥
Seems like it'll be popular for the coming Malbok (last dog day of summer) too
In this heat my body's been swelling up somehow while my stamina keeps dropping, so I came with Crystal to get some boshik (nourishing food) too, haha.

Interior atmosphere and fully booked by 7pm
Inside Mansuheon Jeongja there are private rooms as well as several tables like these! Decorated with upscale wood-tone furniture, it felt quite premium-dining♥ Our neighborhood has a few grill-it-yourself places like butcher-shop restaurants, but nowhere with this Japanese-style high-quality feel — a real advantage, I thought.
We arrived around 6pm when there were only 2-3 other tables
By around 7pm it was basically full of FULL
So I'd recommend booking ahead before visiting!

They seated us over here, and somehow Crystal had already arrived after work — must've only been a 1-2 minute gap lol.
They got the table set up neatly right away.

How much are drinks and corkage?
Besides the eel rice bowls, they also sell a variety of drinks that pair well with the main dishes here!
- 3-type bokbunja pairing ₩9,000
- Kirin Ichiban draft ₩9,000
- Suntory highball ₩9,000
- Bokbunja highball ₩10,000
- Soju ₩6,000 / Beer ₩7,000

Corkage
They charge ₩10,000 per bottle for wine and ₩20,000 per bottle for whiskey, so I asked my friend to bring a chilled white wine and we did corkage that day.

Salt-grilled eel for two — how far does 1,300°C charcoal pre-grilling go?
We ordered the regular salt-grilled eel for two, not the 'special'!
They bring it pre-grilled over charcoal as hot as 1,300°C! You just grill it a bit more to your liking on the table. They told us it comes about 90% cooked already, so only 10% more is needed at the table.
To our taste, we grilled it more and longer

Side dish spread and kiosk refills
Julienned ginger, special sauce, special salt, sliced garlic, wasabi, mul-kimchi (water kimchi), pickled gungchae, pickled perilla leaves, pickled chili strips, kimchi, salad, and chive salad — a neat, generous spread of many side dishes.
The pickles were so good we used the kiosk to get two more refills!

The wine we brought — we asked for an ice bucket
We chilled it well and packed it in an insulated bag, but it was so hot out that it seemed to be warming up fast.
So I asked if they could do an ice bucket, and they brought one out right away, neat and generous.
Thanks to that, we could drink the whole bottle chilled to the last drop.

We brought a Russian Jack Sauvignon Blanc that day — crisp, tart, and refreshing, and it paired amazingly with the eel♥ Crystal's pick, as always, was a hit!
Here are today's finely dressed stars! The fire was strong so it grilled well — a light grill gives a chewy texture, while grilling it crispier removes more of the fish's distinct smell for a tastier bite. Grill it to your own taste.

This is how pre-grilled it comes out. They cut it into easy bite sizes, so we either ate it as is or cut it in half to save some, lol. The portion was plenty!

This level of doneness suited our taste well, haha. Now I'm curious what level neighbors prefer! Hahaha.

It's a clean, light-tasting grill, so mixing it up with different combinations keeps it from getting repetitive.
It felt so happy and healthy, haha!
Cheers, my friend!!
Park Yoni swagged out on round one that day~!!
Chawanmushi as a surprise finish
It really felt as carefully paced as an omakase, and just as we were finishing up, they surprised us with chawanmushi (steamed egg custard)♥ I usually think of it as an appetizer, but having it as a light, clean finisher was nice too, in its own way, haha. Soft and jiggly — I loved it, haha.
That day, after Mansuheon Jeongja — which I'll be back at for the eel rice bowl — we headed to round two for mixed sausage, potato hash, and a draft beer each, haha. A happy little summer night in Jeongja-dong.
