Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch (오목교곱창 목동본점) is a beef gopchang (small intestine) grill restaurant on Mokdongdong-ro in Seoul, near Omokgyo Station. I heard there was a great beef gopchang place in Omokgyo, so I went, and it was clean-tasting with no gamey smell, and the garlic gopchang with whole garlic cloves studded inside was so good. It's also known as a go-to meat place for company dinners in Mokdong. Starting the Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch post now!

The seating at Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is spacious, so it looked great for a group dinner. The window-side seats feel open and well ventilated, so eating there was comfortable and not stuffy at all.

Side dishes at Omokgyo Gopchang
Here's the basic table setting at Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch. They say it's not a place that just sells flavor: the side dishes are prepared and made by hand to make a difference in every bite.
- Stone-pot soft tofu stew (sundubu-jjigae)
- Breadcrumb salad
- Sesame-style oil with salt
- Cheonyeop (beef omasum, tripe)
- Special seasoning sauce
- Homemade green onion kimchi
- Seasoned garlic chives
- Pickled onions
- Shiitake wasabi

The shiitake wasabi cuts the richness right away, and the special spicy sauce, which they say is made with 15 ingredients and aged 72 hours, is insanely good, haha 🤤 It keeps you from getting tired of the gopchang and daechang. They also said the green onion kimchi is made with chili powder from their parents' own farm and aged before serving.

The complimentary soft tofu stew was spicy and went perfectly too.
Nonstop freebies and the KakaoTalk roulette
The freebies just kept coming, hahaha! There were vitamins with the bottled water, and you can win various perks with the extra KakaoTalk roulette. In the drawer there's a neat case with a spoon, chopsticks, napkins and even a bottle opener.

The side dishes alone are enough to drink with, hahaha 🍻 We started off with a cold somaek (soju mixed with beer).

There's a guide to eating it the tasty way too, so take a look, haha!

Garlic gopchang and grilled daechang: how did they taste?
We can't resist limited-quantity items, so we ordered the traditional handmade garlic gopchang (₩28,900), grilled daechang (₩25,900) and Jumunjin golbaengi noodles (₩12,000), plus soju and beer.

The gopchang and daechang at Omokgyo Gopchang come pre-grilled, and when they arrive the staff put on a fire show, haha. Whoosh! 🔥 The gopchang is full of creamy filling, and Seosan whole garlic 🧄 is studded all through it.
We ate the complimentary heart (yeomtong) first.

The gopchang tasted best with the special sauce and shiitake wasabi.

It was also nice and clean-tasting with the bean sprouts and other vegetables grilled alongside.
Garlic gopchang studded with soft whole garlic
Omokgyo Gopchang's garlic gopchang is the whole-garlic gopchang the media raved about. The garlic is studded all through it, and while some gopchang places put in whole garlic that isn't fully cooked, Omokgyo Gopchang was different. The garlic was cooked through and nestled in the gopchang, so it was soft and easy to eat.

Too rich? Order the Jumunjin whelk noodles
The moment it gets even a little greasy, go order the Jumunjin golbaengi noodles (₩12,000)!

Jumunjin golbaengi noodles are like whelk with thin wheat noodles (somyeon). I bet they made this sauce themselves too, haha? You get a generous bowl with plenty of whelk. It wasn't very spicy, haha, so it was just right for me.
And I won a can of cider from the roulette event, hahaha. It was a nice, clean way to finish.
The attention to detail is something else, right? On the way out, they have individually wrapped hovenia (hutgae) sticks and dental floss ready.
Verdict: is Omokgyo Gopchang a good Mokdong spot for a company dinner?
If you're looking for a great gopchang meat restaurant in Omokgyo or Mokdong, Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is worth a visit. It seems to be a famous local spot with a serious wait. The window seats are wide open with the nice weather these days, so it doesn't feel stuffy at all. With so many freebies and events, it was a fun place to eat.
