I stopped by Hyundai Department Store KINTEX and picked up takeout at Boulangerie Tan, and even on a weekday the customers never stopped coming.
I'd wondered why it's so famous, and one look at the breads on display and I got it 🤍 Everything looked so good that I browsed for ages.
I hear the sandwiches are really good too, and so is the salt bread (testimony from a friend who lives in Unjeong).
(But yes, they do look delicious.)

When I visited, Boulangerie Tan was running a salt bread 3+1 deal, so salt bread fans, rejoice! They also give you a bread bag if you buy ₩30,000 or more of bread, and that bag is so cute 🥐🥯🍞🥖🥨
How much does a cornet pie gift box cost?
Boulangerie Tan cornet pies can be boxed for an extra ₩1,000. My eyes went straight to the cornet pies,, they looked so delicious. The staff told me they use Rescure butter. No wonder they taste good!

Honestly, all of Boulangerie Tan's cornet pies are good. Crisp on the outside and packed with cream inside!

1. Hazelnut chocolate cornet pie: my son's favorite
The hazelnut chocolate cornet pie was my second favorite! My son said this was the best one.
The hazelnut aroma hits you the moment you take a bite, so if you like Ferrero Rocher, this will be right up your alley. The combo of sweet chocolate cream and crisp pie was great too 🤎
2. Croquant caramel cornet pie: my top pick 👑
The croquant caramel cornet pie is my number one 👑 It isn't just sweet caramel, it has a slightly bittersweet note, so I never got tired of it.
The nuts on top add texture and went really well with it, and it was the kind of taste where you keep reaching for more.
3. Pistachio cornet pie: rich, nutty pistachio flavor
The pistachio cornet pie doesn't have an artificial pistachio flavor, you taste the rich, nutty flavor of the real nut, which I loved. (Not Baskin-Robbins pistachio!) Anyone who likes pistachio will love this!
4. Vanilla cornet pie: a classic done right
The vanilla cornet pie is the most classic flavor. My son's second pick!
Vanilla bean specks are dotted through the cream, so the flavor was great, and it's one anyone can enjoy without hesitation.
5. Raspberry matcha cornet pie: left to my husband (?)
The raspberry matcha cornet pie was my husband's department (?), so I can't give a proper review, but my picky husband quietly finished the whole thing, so I'm going with it being definitely good!

If you're looking for a good bakery or dessert in Ilsan, I recommend Boulangerie Tan! There's a wide variety of breads, so choosing is fun, and the taste was more satisfying than I expected.
Boulangerie Tan's cornet pies are crisp outside and full of cream inside, so even one is very satisfying. Each flavor has its own character, so they'd be great to share with family or friends. They can be boxed, so they'd make a nice gift too (getting bread as a gift is the best).
