Sunset patio clam grill in Gyodong, Daegu: fried squid add-on, Nampo
In short
Nampo is a clam grill pub with patio seating on Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil in Gyodong, Jung-gu, Daegu. Around sunset, the writer sat at a patio table booked on Naver and had the clam grill for 2–3 people with Kirin draft beer. The writer added fried squid and simmered the free kalguksu noodles (knife-cut noodles) in extra broth. These days, once evening rolls around I always end up hunting for a patio pub with good vibes, and this time I found a clam grill place in Gyodong with seriously great atmosphere haha. We went in around sunset, the lights came on one by one and the mood was unreal, and it kept getting busier as the night went on, which I loved too 🫶 The scallops were really good, and they even gave us ice cream for dessert, so I left totally satisfied. Let me tell you about Nampo (남포), a Gyodong clam grill spot!
Where is Nampo in Gyodong, Daegu, and when does it open?
Nampo is a patio clam grill place with an old-school Gyodong feel, at 238 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu. It is open 18:00 to 02:00 the next day, opens at 17:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and takes reservations through Naver.
Nampo patio atmosphere at sunset
If you wander around Gyodong, Nampo catches your eye from far away because of its lights. The outdoor tables have real patio charm, and with summer coming, this kind of vibe is just so good haha.

We went in just as the sun was starting to go down, and the darker it got, the better the atmosphere felt 💗
Nampo indoor seating and vibe
Nampo has quite a lot of space inside, and the outside tables connect to it, carrying the patio feel right through. It isn't rowdy; it's just a great place to grill clams, chat and drink together :) It would be good with friends or as a date, haha. The music playing was songs from the 2020s and 2030s... totally my taste 🫶
How do you reserve and order at Nampo?

If you reserve a patio seat on Naver before going, you'll be shown to a patio table. We reserved, and they wrote an acrostic poem with our name, haha. I was so touched 🤭 That kind of thoughtfulness in small things put me in a great mood ☺️

You order Nampo's menu on the kiosk at each table, and there's also a full printed menu, which makes it easy to browse. Here's what we ordered.
- Clam grill for 2–3 people
- 2 Kirin draft beers
- Soju
- Fried squid (extra order)
Nampo clam grill side dishes and stone grill
Every table at Nampo has a stone grill plate, and it was fun both to grill the clams and to just watch them ☺️ The atmosphere is honestly a bonus 🫶

The free side dishes at Nampo are assorted vegetables, kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), pork cutlet and corn salad.

While the clams cook, snacking on the side dishes with a cold Kirin draft 🍻 was just so good 😆

How were the scallops in Nampo's clam grill for 2–3 people?
Nampo's clam grill (for 2–3 people) comes with a variety of scallops.

They're topped with cheese, corn cheese and vegetables, so every bite tastes different. A friendly staff member walks around grilling them for you, which made it even better!
The scallop cheese melts and sizzles, and the smell alone is insane hahaha. The photos come out so pretty that I kept taking more 📸

As time went on I got drunk on the atmosphere and the drinks just kept going down! The clams themselves felt fresh, with almost no fishy taste and a nutty, savory flavor that kept me reaching for more 👍

We grilled shrimp too, haha, and my husband peeled them for me, such a sweet guy 🤭 It's a combo you can't not drink to. If you're looking for a clam grill patio with great atmosphere in Gyodong, I really recommend Nampo.

Clams not enough? Add Nampo's fried squid
While eating Nampo's clam grill, clams alone felt a little light as drinking food, so we added fried squid, and that was totally the right call haha. The batter was super crispy and salty, perfect with drinks 🫶 It wasn't greasy, so it was nice to eat between clams, and I couldn't stop reaching for it 👍

Free kalguksu with extra broth, like a hangover soup
The vegetable kalguksu noodles that came as a free side dish at Nampo!! I asked for extra broth and simmered them, and it felt like hangover soup, so delicious 🤭

What time is best to visit Nampo in Gyodong?
If you go to Nampo right as the sun starts to set, the lighting really comes alive haha. More people keep arriving, everyone chatting over a drink, and the mood was so nice that I just wanted to sit there longer haha. It was the time when Gyodong's patio charm really came through! If you like this kind of atmosphere, you'll definitely love it ☺️

Finishing with dessert ice cream
At the end, Nampo even gave us dessert ice cream, which was a perfect palate cleanser after the clams haha. A little dessert like that really leaves you in a good mood, right? Full belly, great atmosphere, and a happy finish at Nampo in Gyodong ☺️ If you're looking for a clam grill place with great vibes in Gyodong, Daegu, I really recommend Nampo!
