West Suwon fish restaurant, baby-food microwave & bakdae: Godeungeo

Here's my review of Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch (고등어명품이되다 수원점), a west Suwon restaurant I visited with my baby! It's baby-friendly enough that it was a perfect spot for a family gathering with a little one under one year old~

• Location & parking: In Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, with a large private parking lot, so even new drivers have zero parking worries!
• Baby-friendliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Baby chairs, a baby chair inside the restroom, a self-serve microwave, and the fish is not strongly seasoned and easy to debone, which makes it a great baby side dish (there's no diaper-changing table or nursing room, though).
• Visiting tip: Tap-dong Citizen Farm is right across the street, so it's an ideal date or outing course for taking pretty photos and strolling before or after your meal.

Is parking and stroller access easy at Godeungeo Suwon Branch?

Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch is on Seobu-ro in Gwonseon-gu, west Suwon, and has a large parking lot in front that fits about 100 cars. Since it's in the west Suwon area, it's easy to get to for people living in Homaesil or Tap-dong.

The first thing that wowed me was the parking lot! The space in front of the restaurant is huge, easily enough for about 100 cars. When you travel by car with a baby, a cramped lot makes it really hard to unload your stuff and unfold the stroller, but Godeungeo has plenty of room, so even beginner drivers can park comfortably.

The whole place has big windows, high ceilings and a pleasant feel, and the entrance is flat with no threshold, so pushing a stroller in was really easy. The tables are spaced very widely, so even with the stroller parked beside us it never felt cramped or blocked the walkway. As a mom, I could eat with real peace of mind.

Grilled mackerel and bakdae a baby can eat too

Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch is a Suwon grilled fish restaurant whose main menu is grilled and braised fish, and we ordered the signature grilled mackerel and grilled bakdae (a flatfish).

The fish came out really crispy on the outside and still moist inside. Best of all, it wasn't too salty or strong, just right and mild, so I could pull off pieces and feed them to my little one, haha.

The bones were removed in nice big pieces, so it was easy to pop the fish right into the baby's mouth.

What are the side dishes and self-serve bar like?

The side dishes at Godeungeo came neatly plated: deodeok-gui (grilled bellflower-root-like deodeok), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), miyeok-guk (seaweed soup) and doraji-muchim (seasoned bellflower root), and every one was excellent. Spicy-sweet deodeok, moist japchae, refreshing seaweed soup and doraji-muchim made it a carefully prepared spread, and it felt like I'd found a proper Suwon Korean restaurant.

The self-serve bar is clean too, so you can eat with confidence.

Is there a baby-food microwave and baby chairs?

Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch has a microwave next to the self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant where you can warm up baby food! When eating out with a young baby, it's often awkward not having anywhere to heat baby food, so I was touched by this thoughtful touch.

There are plenty of baby chairs too. There's even a baby chair inside the restroom, and baby-friendly touches for moms stood out all around the restaurant. However, there is no diaper-changing table or nursing room.

After the meal, you can enjoy a cool, clean cup of coffee at the cafeteria inside the restaurant, which also makes it very good to come with older family members!

A great spot for a whole-family gathering

Besides the mild grilled and braised fish, Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch also offers fresh premium raw fish such as mackerel sashimi and croaker sashimi, plus a variety of drinking snacks. So I strongly recommend it for family meals and gatherings with everyone from babies to grandparents.

A walk at Tap-dong Citizen Farm after lunch

Right across from Godeungeo Suwon Branch is Tap-dong Citizen Farm (탑동시민농장), where pretty flowers and gardens bloom with the seasons. After a full meal, you can take the stroller over, snap some lovely photos with the baby and take a walk, which makes a perfect outing route.

Verdict: a west Suwon grilled fish restaurant that works with a baby

A big parking lot, a pleasant restaurant, a microwave and baby chairs set up for babies, and crispy grilled fish that's mild and perfect to share with a baby!
