Yeongtong, Suwon bakery café with mentaiko salt bread: Cork Bake Bar

Today I'm sharing my honest review of Cork Bake Bar, a much-loved bakery in Suwon, where I tried the mentaiko salt bread and the thousand-layer toast ✨

Where is Cork Bake Bar, and what are the hours and parking?

Cork Bake Bar (코르크베이크바) is at 511 Dongsuwon-ro, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, on the 1st floor, and it's open 09:00-22:00. You can park for free in the Hosin Black Goat lot right next to the shop.

Cork Bake Bar's exterior and atmosphere

Cork Bake Bar is a bakery café with a European-style exterior, near the old Beopwon intersection. The parking lot is big and has no parking barrier, so it's easy!

I'd seen Cork Bake Bar on Instagram Reels a few times and got curious, so I visited! I'd heard the variety of bread is huge, so I went in with high expectations haha

It has a pretty interior that stands out all on its own 👀 It's kind of European-style, so it really felt like I'd walked into a bakery in Europe haha

Cork Bake Bar even had the trending wakppu salt bread!! Its outside has a wax-like coating that cracks and crumbles, which makes it fun to eat, and that's why it's popular right now haha

Of the Suwon bakery cafés I've been to, this one puts out the widest variety of bread!!

Is the inside of Cork Bake Bar spacious and cool?

The inside of Cork Bake Bar is spacious and tidy, and it's really cool even in summer. A sign inside says to park in the Hosin Black Goat lot.

By the way, it's so cool inside that coming in summer is honestly heaven.

It looks like Cork Bake Bar's signature character is a tiger haha There's a cute tiger-character lamp, and a Ghibli animation was playing inside.

The inside is tidy and roomy, so it's great for coming with friends or family! It's quiet, so it's good for working too, and since lots of buses pass by, it's easy to get to. The mood is lovely, so it's also perfect for a date 💗

The shop is big and clean, right?? And there really is a huge range of baked goods.

The inside is really big! There are about 2 four-person tables and about 6 two-person tables.

The drinks at Cork Bake Bar include coffee, lattes, ades, smoothies, tea and fruit juice.

The menu is really varied! From chocolate lattes and smoothies that kids love to coffee and lattes that adults love, it's perfect for families, isn't it?

What breads does Cork Bake Bar have?

Cork Bake Bar has lots of kinds of salt bread, including mentaiko mayo salt bread, nurungji (scorched rice) salt bread, wakppu salt bread and raspberry salt bread.

There's a wide range of salt bread: mentaiko mayo, nurungji, wakppu, raspberry and more!

They even have a whole four kinds of the trending sando (fruit sandwich): mango, green grape, orange and kiwi!

There are also baked goods you can give as gifts, like meringue cookies and cookies! The bakery range is so big that it's a place I want to come back to haha

The cakes come in lots of kinds too! There's orange fresh cream, grapefruit yogurt, ube Basque cheesecake, double fromage, pistachio raspberry, and cupcakes for an easy bite.

With sandwich loaf and ciabatta too, I feel like there's no kind of bread they don't have 🤭🤭

How do the iced Americano and iced vanilla latte taste?

Cork Bake Bar's iced Americano was nutty and not strongly bitter, and the iced vanilla latte was on the very sweet side.

It was hot out, so I ordered cold drinks haha The iced Americano uses nutty beans, so it goes well with sweet bread! It isn't strongly bitter, so it goes down easily ☕️

The iced vanilla latte is a seriously sweet latte!! My mom loves sweet lattes, and this is a real sugar recharge. Women often crave something sweet, and this is the latte that recharges you on those days.

Cork Bake Bar's mentaiko salt bread and thousand-layer toast

Cork Bake Bar's mentaiko salt bread pairs salty pollock roe with buttery flavor, and the thousand-layer toast is a butter-rich loaf you pull apart layer by layer.

In the mentaiko salt bread, the salty roe inside goes really well with the nutty butter flavor of the salt bread 🥖 It's a nutty-salty combo that's a perfect match with an iced Americano.

The thousand-layer toast is made of many layers, so pulling it apart is fun! The loaf has a rich, nutty butter flavor, and it was a perfect match with the iced vanilla latte 👍🏻
