Octopus dol jjamppong for two in Songjeong, Busan: Songjeong Dol

In short

Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is a stone-plate jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant near Songjeong Beach in Haeundae, Busan. The writer arrived after the weekend peak hour and ordered the medium octopus dol jjamppong for two with the crunchy mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) set for 44,000 won, then scraped the scorched rice off the 250-degree stone plate. Of three stone-plate jjamppong meals tried so far, this was the most satisfying and a certain repeat visit.

Today I'm introducing a jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) spot in Songjeong, Busan — a Haeundae favorite :)

Where is Songjeong Dol Jjamppong, and where do you park?

On a recent weekend, we combined a Busan drive with a Haeundae date and ended up at this Chinese restaurant near Songjeong Beach — easy to get to. There's a free parking lot right in front of the shop, and free street parking along the building too, so it was convenient to visit by car 😉

If the lot out front is full, you can use Songjeong Blue Parking Lot just below the shop — they'll give you a 1-hour parking discount voucher. Just note it's limited to one car per table, up to 1 hour!

The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, and since we went after the weekend peak hour we luckily got seated right away with no wait. Great for stopping by during a Haeundae trip, and a comfortable atmosphere for families, couples, or friends 😊 You can check the waiting status in real time on Catch Table, and Naver reservations are available too haha. Apparently there were a lot of no-shows, so they now run a deposit system for reservations!

Yogurt and a microwave for baby food at the back of the restaurant

At the back of the restaurant there's yogurt for a palate cleanser after the meal, and even a microwave for baby food — makes it easy to dine out with kids! Big thumbs up for the owner's thoughtful touch for guests with children 👍

Ordering and card payment are easy right at the table via a table-order system. Along with the signature dol jjamppong and dol jjajangmyeon, there's a wide range of mains like handmade dumplings, macaron mangboosha (crispy shrimp toast), and crunchy tangsuyuk, plus plenty of side dishes to pair with them!

Dol jjamppong topped with a whole octopus

The whole squid version was the recommended menu, and I hesitated for a second, but I'm more of an octopus person than a squid person, so octopus it was! A whole octopus went right into the bowl 🤤

Free bowl of rice served alongside the dol jjamppong

We checked the free rice box when ordering, so a bowl of rice came along with it. We joked that if you eat every bit of that free rice too, you'll be completely stuffed ~

A 250-degree stone plate keeps the jjamppong hot to the last bite

A trait of dol jjamppong: the flavor gets richer the more you eat. The seasoning soaks fully into the noodles and ingredients so it felt almost like eating a stir-fried jjamppong, and the crunchy bean sprouts, loaded generously, gave it great texture too. Fresh seafood and plenty of other ingredients made for a hearty overall bowl, and the biggest perk was that it's served sizzling on a 250-degree stone plate, so it doesn't cool down easily — you can eat it warm right to the last chopstick-full 🔥

The highlight: scraping the scorched rice off the stone plate

And the final highlight is scraping up the scorched rice (nurungji) stuck to the stone plate 😋 You scrape it up hard with a spoon, and if I had to describe the taste — it's like jjamppong turned into risotto? The rich broth had soaked all the way into the scorched rice, giving it great flavor plus a chewy-crispy texture. A bowl packed with so many different flavors in one ... ♡

Plate of crunchy mini tangsuyuk

Crunchy mini tangsuyuk with a pork cutlet-like texture

True to being made with 100% domestic sirloin aged for 24 hours, the meat was pale and clean the moment I bit in — you could just tell it was fresh. Unlike typical tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) batter, this one had a crispy coating more like a pork cutlet, and honestly, the more I ate it, the more it actually tasted like donkatsu, wow. I'm calling this the best tangsuyuk I've had this year 🫶

Table after the meal with leftover dol jjamppong

Sadly we couldn't finish everything — the portions were seriously generous, so we left very full! But we did manage to polish off all the tangsuyuk ✌️

Final verdict on Songjeong Dol Jjamppong

Stone-hard and unshakeable — the deepest, richest flavor around

This was my third time trying dol jjamppong, and it's been the most satisfying place so far. The green onion kimchi from the self-service corner was delicious too, so I'd love to try it with the dol jjajangmyeon next time, and I definitely want to try the handmade macaron mangboosha as well — a repeat visit is a must!!! 💛 If you're looking for a Haeundae date spot or a Songjeong restaurant in Busan, I recommend Songjeong Dol Jjamppong :)
