Busan drive-date Chinese restaurant, 2 whole squids: Songjeong Dol
In short
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is a stone-plate seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant on Songjeonggwangeogol-ro in Haeundae, Busan. On a drive date through Songjeong, the writer ordered the level-1 spice stone-plate jjamppong with 2 whole squids added and the crunchy tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) set, and the stone plate kept the broth piping hot to the last spoonful, right down to the scorched rice scraped from underneath. At Songjeong Dol Jjamppong the whole squid add-on was more satisfying than the tangsuyuk in this hearty, spicy meal.

A Haeundae date spot with amazing smoky heat — spicy Busan Songjeong jjamppong, menu prices, parking, and tips for adding whole squid. I was out on a drive toward Songjeong when a spicy, steaming hot bowl of soup suddenly sounded amazing. After a frenzy of searching, I found 'Songjeong Dol Jjamppong,' a Busan Songjeong restaurant loved by tourists and locals alike.

I heard the jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) comes out still bubbling on a red-hot stone plate, so I went in half curious, half excited — and once I piled on two whole squids, the broth flavor was seriously incredible. Here's my review of that spicy, filling meal that blew all my stress away.
3-second summary: what is Songjeong Dol Jjamppong?
- The verdict: Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is one of only 3 directly-operated branches in the country, a restaurant where you can enjoy smoky, spicy seafood jjamppong piping hot on a bubbling stone plate from first bite to last.
- Who should go: anyone who wants to round off a Haeundae date with a spicy meal that leaves a bit of sweat on your brow after checking out Songjeong Beach.
- The appeal: a clean, deep broth flavor with minimal artificial seasoning, paired incredibly well with chewy, plump whole squid!
- Real-world tip from the writer: the crunchy tangsuyuk that comes with the set is tasty too, but honestly the squid is out-of-this-world good! If you love seafood, we strongly recommend skipping the tangsuyuk and loading up on extra whole squid instead.

Walking inside, the interior was really clean and spacious, which made it very comfortable. It was well maintained and had an impeccable vibe for both a cozy Haeundae date or a family meal out.

Menu and how to order at Songjeong Dol Jjamppong

Level-1 stone-plate jjamppong with 2 whole squids added

At Songjeong Dol Jjamppong, cooking starts the moment you order, so it does take a little while — but the sight of the jjamppong arriving sizzling on the stone plate made the wait totally worth it! I chose the level-1 spice, about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, and it wasn't a sharp, aggressive heat but a pleasant, smoky warmth that had me unable to put my spoon down. The broth was truly a work of art.

Since I wanted to eat plenty of seafood, I stacked on two whole squids using both the option add-on and the à la carte add-on. The squid was so plump and tender, and it went perfectly with the spicy sauce.

How was the crunchy tangsuyuk in the set?
The crunchy tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) included in the set was crispy and good, but honestly, the combination of jjamppong and squid was so overwhelming that I actually said, "Next time, I'm skipping the tangsuyuk and loading up on way more whole squid instead!"

Of course, the tangsuyuk was also fried nice and crispy and tasted great.

Thanks to the stone plate, the broth stayed hot until the very end of the meal, which I loved, and mixing the rich leftover sauce with the free bowl of rice provided per table (one per table) finished off the perfect Busan Songjeong food binge. Oh! And don't forget to scrape up the scorched rice under the stone plate and eat that too — that's how you finish it right.
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong Q&A
Q. Does the food take a long time to come out? A. It's not pre-made — the seafood and vegetables are stir-fried the moment you order, so there is a bit of a wait. It's not too long, though! Once you taste the care that goes into that sizzling stone plate, you'll totally understand why.

Q. Is this a chain restaurant? A. It's not a typical franchise — it's directly operated at only 3 locations nationwide (Ulsan, Busan, Miryang). That's how the quality, from ingredient prep to flavor, stays consistently high — making this a genuine must-visit restaurant near Songjeong Beach, Busan.
Is Songjeong Dol Jjamppong worth a drive-date stop?
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong was a fantastic Haeundae date restaurant where the magic of a stone plate that never cools down and the smoky char of fresh seafood came together in perfect harmony. With minimal artificial seasoning, the broth wasn't heavy but clean and spicy, great both as a hangover cure and as a hearty meal. I'm still thinking about how chewy those two plump whole squids were. If you want to check out Songjeong Beach and then experience a deep, spicy flavor that really hits the spot, I highly recommend a visit!
